Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County WY
We are Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County (HFHJC) - an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) and as such we follow their guidelines.
What is Habitat Place? Habitat Place is our store at 310 Williams St, Buffalo that sells antiques, collectibles, books, furniture, and some appliances & building supplies. These items are all donated to us by the community of Buffalo and Kaycee, in Johnson County.
We also accept clothing and other items at our discretion, which we feel may sell at the annual Garage Sale held in May. A group of volunteers sort and box these items and store them until the sale. The money made from these items is what helps us to continue building houses in Johnson County.
Habitat Place Hours are:
Thursdays: 10:00 to 2:00
Fridays: 10:00 to 2:00
Saturdays: 10:00 to 12:00
If you have items to donate at a time that differs from these hours, please contact John Orwig here.
GARAGE SALE:
“Buy so we can Build” is the slogan for the Annual Habitat for Humanity Garage Sale; a weekend-long event that fills 3 whole buildings at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. All proceeds from the garage sale go to help build affordable housing for families in Johnson County. The event begins on a Thursday evening with a pre-sale opportunity from 5-8 pm. For a small donation, people are allowed to come in and buy before the official start of the event on Friday.
It continues Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm with more new items put out each day and Sunday from 11am to 4pm when everything sells for half the original price.
We also host a “bottle bid fundraiser game” during the garage sale which is total profit for the organization. Donations for this fundraiser must be full, unopened bottles of anything. Really! From shampoo to laundry soap, hot sauce to soda pop, as long as it is in a bottle and has not been tampered with, it is acceptable as a donation.
Donations of household items and clothing are accepted throughout the year and stored until the sale. This year, all the items that were left over after the sale were purchased by Value Warehouse and Consignment in Buffalo.
