Smyth County Animal Control and Shelter provides for the humane treatment of stray, neglected and abused animals. We wish to provide our professional assistance for the health and protection of the residents of Smyth County.



As an Animal Control shelter, our responsibilities include the enforcement of local and state animal control laws, the humane capture and treatment of unwanted animals, investigation of animal abuse, neglect, & cruelty, and the provision of emergency transportation and care for injured animals found in our county. We ensure each animal has proper food, water, shelter and medical attention when needed as funds allow. We work with our local Smyth County Humane Society and the community to help lost animals and their owners be reunited, and try to find good homes for each adoptable pet. We are NOT...A NO KILL SHELTER!
