Harper's Abused Animal Rescue

Harper's Abused Animal Rescue

These animals were a large rescue, were starved & deprived of water for days in extremely hot weather. All animals have health issues & require vet care.

Please help me share this!!

We need to get these animals the treatment they need and deserve and to help out the foster parents to incur the expenses for all these animals. They are going to have a long, tough road ahead trying to rehabilitate these precious angels as it is and we don't want them to have to also worry about how to pay for it. Thanks so much!!!

This is the story......

This lady had horses that were EXTREMELY and OBVIOUSLY underweight. Using the Henneke Scoring system most law enforcement systems use, most of these of these horses score between 2 & 3, and several score a 1, which is the worst possible score.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, when we went out there to take some more hay and check on water for the horses, I asked if anyone had bothered to knock on the door to see if they were home or if something had possibly happened to them, maybe a heart attack, etc....No-one had...so I walked back into the property knocked on the doors, got no answer, and that's when I smelled that awful, horrid smell of death!!
I started yelling 'hello' and walked around back following the smell and the dogs were going nuts!!

DOGS EVERYWHERE!!!

3 Dead Rottweiler puppies and 1 Dead Pitt Bull!!!! 2 Dead Chickens!!!
MANY emotions hit me all at once...

Relief...No dead humans...

Sadness, sickening, then...

EXTREME Anger at the shape these animals were in!!!! ????????????
NO WATER!!!! NO FOOD!!!!

I ran back to the road and got Patty to help me and we cleaned and filled water buckets immediately!!!! If you could have seen them jumping into that water...????

We also found 8 goats, 2 of which were tiny babies, and a pig!!!

After that, we drove to Harper to Family Dollar and bought 64 pounds of dog food, and various other things we could find for the pig, goats, and chickens. It was right at 9pm, not much for animal feed but anything is better than nothing!!

We took that back out there and fed. The dogs ate ALL that food in no time at all!!!

Patty Sepulveda and her dad went back out early yesterday morning and fed another 100 pounds, again not a kernel left...That's 164 pounds of food in 12 hours!!!

Then, Sandy Mira called and said the Sheriff's Dept. was out there with the land owner and was allowing us today ONLY to move SOME of the horses and to hurry. I called Patty and we started rolling. Royce McDaniels and Melissa Snow were two more key people in helping get this done!!

The lady has a sob story a mile long and NONE of it washes I assure!! She had EVERY OPPORTUNITY to feed and water ALL of these animals!!! NO EXCUSES!!! I spoke with her...We ALL did...She should NEVER be allowed to own another pet as long as she lives!!! I intend to do EVERY POSSIBLE THING I CAN TO MAKE SURE SHE DOESN'T!!! So if ANYONE knows LEGITIMATE FACTS regarding her and ANIMALS, PLEASE PLEASE CONTACT GILLESPIE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE and REPORT IT!!!!!

I KNOW ALL TO WELL that MOST of you are gonna be as ticked off as myself and everyone else assisting in the rescue that she was NOT put in handcuffs and immediately taken straight to jail and allowed to remove animals from the property, but unfortunately there is a procedure that must be followed and I for one THANK GOD we got as many as we did cuz it took a LOT OF PATIENCE AND COAXING to get them...but please be assured this WILL be going to trial!!

I would also like to thank the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office for their assistance and continued efforts and support with this rescue. I would especially like to thank Officers Hindman, Moellering, and Heimann who stayed with us throughout the day and made an unbearable situation more tolerable...Sorry I lost my cool!!!

To all of you people sharing our posts, dropping off feed, taking in animals, you have my deepest and sincerest gratitude!!! We couldn't have done this without you!!! YOUR AWESOME!!!

AND TO MY RESCUE TEAM...I LOVE YOU!!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!

FYI...I have set up our fund raisers for all these poor, abused babies.

Dr. Quattro Patterson has so graciously offered to work with us on discounts and payments so I would like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to him and his staff!!!! I have used them for years and have NEVER been unhappy with them!! They have always provided and continue to provide exemplary service and care of every animal I have ever owned or brought to that hospital!! They are, HANDS DOWN, THE BEST VETS IN KERR AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES!!!! Those of you that know me have heard me sing there praises a thousand times and know that these are the ONLY vets in town that I HAVE and WILL continue to use and recommend...So the next time anyone has a need for a vet, PLEASE give them a call at (830) 367-5316...I promise you will be very happy you did!!!
