Halifax County Humane Society

Dedicated to saving and improving the lives of animals in Halifax County, Virginia, through fostering, adoption and promoting responsible spay/neuter.

The Halifax County Humane Society is a non-sheltered program that rescues animals and provides them for adoption to loving families. Since we are non-sheltered, we rely on generous people who are willing to be foster parents to animals while they wait to be adopted. We survive solely on donations and fund raisers.
Please note that we are all volunteers with jobs & families. We cannot take in stray animals, nor can we go pick them up. We rarely have room for owner surrenders. There are just too many in the shelter we are trying to help. We can, however, usually take litters of kittens & puppies, provided there is an agreement to have the mommy dog/cat spayed.
