BARC Gansbaai Animal Welfare

BARC Trust (IT 3001/2009),is an Animal Welfare Organization who's primary objective is to care for and relieve the suffering of mistreated and neglected animals in the greater Gansbay, Stanford and Baardscheerdersbosch areas in the Western Cape, S.A.

BARC is a small animal welfare organization covering about 6,500 households in an area of approximately 1,000 sq Km. with only one Field Worker. Our animal holding area consists of 8 kennels
and a cattery with one permanent worker.
Our main objectives are animal welfare services like sterilization, dipping, parasite control and putting suffering animals to sleep. Strayed and roaming animals are caught and kept in pounding until suitable homes can be found.
Our main funding is from Overstrand Municipality for work we do on a tender basis. We also have a second hand shop where we sell goods donated by the public. Otherwise we are totally depended on financial donations from the public and other businesses.
The above funding hardly covers the account for veterinary sevices and the running of the day to day expenses. We desperately need some extra funding to be able to provide veterinary services and care for the animals of the less privileged community.
