The Old Gardens Animal Rescue Centre

The Old Gardens Animal Rescue Centre

A family-run animal rescue centre, this used to be run by Irene Clarke and her brother Johnny, but sadly Johnny passed away in 2007.

Anyone is welcome, come along and see the animals - we have many animals such as chickens, geese, turkeys and ducks plus pigs, sheep and goats. There is a small shop where you can purchase the freshly laid free range eggs, books and other bric a brac.

Visitors are free to wander around the centre and see all of the animals. If you want, you can buy small bags of food to feed them, something which children will always enjoy, these are priced at 50p per bag.

We have a number of the rescued battery hens. They are now able to scratch around freely in the paddocks at the centre. When they are rescued, many of these hens were badly feather plucked and mal-nourished, but soon recover with our care and attention and quickly become a picture of health. They also provide us with a daily supply of tasty free range eggs, which can be purchased from our shop.

As a completely voluntary, non profit making organisation we are always looking for help with our work. Any assistance that we get is most gratefully received. We already have a number of friends who have helped by donating goods to sell in our shop or materials for use in the construction of the various animal shelters.
However, our biggest expense is always the food for the many animals we are caring for. If you would like to help, you can make a donation, which we would be very grateful for! :) In addition, we are now offering the chance to sponsor the animals. All the proceeds will go towards helping to pay for the care of the animals.
