Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue, Inc. is a volunteer-based 501(c)3 rescue and community outreach organization. Our mission is to promote responsible pitbull ownership, provide breed education, combat pet overpopulation, fight unfair legislation, find qualified homes for sound pitbull-type dogs and other dogs in need in Georgia, and help people and animals within our community.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
My style of rescue is a little different than most. I rescue with my heart, and not with my pocket. I never wanted to start my own rescue—I did not want to deal with the bureaucracy that is usually associated with the industry. To this day, I do what I can for the dogs.
I am often asked why, of all the dog breeds, I chose to rescue Pit Bulls. The answer is simple. Nobody steps up for Pit Bulls…not even dog lovers. I chose a breed that I felt needed the most help. Most people, including dog lovers, avoid Pit Bulls. These dogs have such negative stigmas attached to them. I want to help open people’s eyes to the truth. The dogs deserve it.
The Pit Bull over population problem is out of control. I get hundreds of emails everyday of Pit Bulls in need of forever homes—from 2 week old puppies, to senior dogs, to those who were found abused or neglected. For me, the challenge doesn’t lie in rescuing, rehabilitating, and vetting these dogs. The problem I face is where to place the dogs once they are well enough to go to their forever homes? In my experience, mostly the wrong people are lining up to adopt Pit Bulls. Those who offer proper homes and who love the breed already have multiple dogs—many of these families have adopted 2 or 3 Pit Bulls from me already.
I do not believe that everyone should have a Pit Bull. In my opinion too many people shouldn’t have any dog at all, let alone a Pit Bull. Pit Bulls require a certain type of owner. And unfortunately, those owners are far and few between...
But with your help, we can start to spread the word about these wonderful companion animals and remove the unfair stigmas they have received. If more people give these dogs a second chance, we can make a huge impact and save lives in the process.
It starts with education. Spay and Neuter. Spread the word about the wonderful characteristics that make the Pit Bull a wonderful companion animal. Let’s keep the dogs out of the shelters. I believe the stats today are that 1 out of every 800 Pit Bulls makes it out of the pound alive. We need to reduce these numbers. Encourage everyone you know to rescue their next dog.
OUR SUPPORTERS
I would like to thank everyone who has helped Friends To The Forlorn Pitbull Rescue Inc. Whether you pass along an email, donate items or $$$, foster a dog, visit a dog at the vet, or post a comment letting me know you appreciate what I do, your support has made a difference.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Abandoned. Neglected. Abused. At Friends to the Forlorn, we have seen it all. But despite the misfortunes Pit Bulls have endured, our commitment to them remains steadfastly clear: to provide save, loving, nurturing forever homes for these dogs in need.
Through no fault of their own, our dogs found themselves in homeless situations. We are dedicated to making a positive difference in these dogs’ lives from the moment they enter program. Our goal is to help these animals in every way we can...emotionally, socially, physically…so that the transition onto their forever homes will be as smooth as possible. We strive to teach our dogs basic obedience and socialization skills, including proper leash manners and friendly house manners.
We have dozens of Pit Bulls waiting for a forever family, we thank you for your interest in improving the lives of this deserving breed. To find out more about our adoptable dogs, visit www.savingpitbulls.org

Congratulations TINY TIM ( Timmy)! You were saved by angels!
On December 18, 2020 a tiny 8 week old puppy was brought into Sprayberry Animal Hospital. He was sick with parvo and his owners could not afford to treat him. Luckily for TINY TIM, one of the vet at the animal hospital is a foster for FTTF. She, and two of the technicians who work there, agreed to take on the care of this sick baby with the help of FTTF.
It took some time and a lot of TLC but before long TINY TIM (now known as Timmy) was on the road to recovery! One of the technicians who cared for him decided that he made a perfect addition to the family and TINY TIM officially joined the Saulter Family of Marietta. #fttf #adopted #rescued

I AM THANKFUL...
I was trying to think of a few words that could sum up my feelings on Thanksgiving... I always say that we run Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue on Compassion,Commitment,Integrity and Love.. those are a few words that came to mind...but another word stood out a little more today. That word is FAITH.. not in the religious sense.. Faith as in:
complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
synonyms: trust, belief, confidence, conviction; optimism, hopefulness, hope
I am thankful for everyone having faith in me, in FTTF and the dogs that we work so hard to save, the unwanted, the unloved, the unknown.. the pit bull.
Im thankful for all the faith put in me, by my family, my friends, my board members, my volunteers, my fosters,my supporters, my vets,my community and my dogs.
We are a prime example of what can be accomplished when people put a little faith in you.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. Thanks for having Faith..

Congratulations CONAN (Canon)!! You walked into the perfect family!
CONAN (now known as Canon) came to FTTF as an owner surrender. His owners could no longer care for him and did not want to take him to the shelter, so he was turned over to FTTF in April of 2021. Two of our fosters worked together- August and Nikki- so that CONAN would have a safe space to go. One day while Nikki was walking CONAN on the Beltline, they met the Dennis-Hardman Family. They had recently moved to Old Hickory, TN from GA and were looking for a friend for their dog. It was a perfect match- and the rest is history! #fttf #adopted #rescue #dog #foreverhome

Congratulations HENDRIX (Shrek)! You found the perfect home!
HENDRIX (now known as Shrek) found himself in the worst place a puppy could find themselves- the pound. HENDRIX found himself at Fulton County Animal Control in June of 2021. A shelter is no place for a puppy and lucky for HENDRIX FTTF had an open foster home and he got his freedom ride on 6/14/21. HENDRIX went to live with Rebecca on her farm where he met lots of dogs, cats, chickens, pigs and even mules! After living the fun farm life, he found his forever family with the Hunsucker- Carrell Family of Woodstock, GA. He now has an FTTF sibling in his new family! #fttf #adopted #rescue #dog

Congratulations LILA! You found your perfect home.
New Years Eve was an exciting time for FTTF as one of our foster dogs went into labor and delivered 10 puppies- 9 of which survived. Our amazing foster Vicki took care of the momma dog and all 9 puppies thru the birth and until the puppies were ready to be weaned. When the puppies were ready to go to their foster homes, LILA stayed with Vickie until her furever family found her. It wasn’t long before the Boscarino Family of Canton fell in love and made her part of their family! #fttf #adopted #foreverhome

RESCUING DECKER
One of the shelter workers at Dekalb sent out a plea for Decker. She had a soft-spot for his sweet nature and desperation for affection. Decker was at the shelter for 2 weeks with clear neurological issues causing his balance to be off and he tumbled over constantly. He was in need of vet care and we were able to get him what he needs.
ABOUT DECKER
Although Decker cannot walk very far without falling over, he is super sweet and dog friendly. He saw Dr Parks at GVS and his issues are definitely cerebral. A blood test revealed Decker has Cerebellar Ataxia (NCL-A) which is an autosomal recessive neurological disease. His balance and vision will progressively get worse. Decker has to be supported 100% by a person in order to walk. He has a full body harness to make it a little bit easier, but when he's indoors, he is happy to sit on the couch with you. When he is supported by his harness and his person, he loves being outside and loves to 'chase' squirrels (we just walking him where he wants to go and let him pretend). His crate needs to be padded because of his involuntary jerking motions that cause him to sway from side to side and fall over into the crate walls. He is crate-trained, but does not have access to roam freely in the house at this time. He is currently located at the Pit Bull Palace where there is not a space customized to suit his needs to prevent him from injuring himself. Decker needs time to warm up to new people and is not suited for a home with kids. He truly relies 100% on people and would love a foster or adopter that is willing and able to accommodate his special needs.
Our adoption fee is $300. All dogs are current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, on heartworm prevention, and are fed top of the line grain-free food. #fttf #rescue #dog

Noodle is ready to spend the holidays with a family! Noodle has been with FTTF for 7 months and she is in need of a foster home within 60 miles of Dallas, GA or a forever family! #NoodleThePitbull #FTTF #fosteringsaveslives #AdoptNoodle #fttfpitbull
Name: Noodle
Breed: Pitbull Mix
DOB: 4/14/2020 (1 year & 7 months old)
Weight: 50 pounds
Location: Dallas, GA
Noodle was a stray in Dallas, GA that couldn't be caught for months. A lady finally caught her, took her to our vet to be checked out on 4/14/2021 and we ran into her there. Poor Noodle was loaded with hookworms, tapeworms, tested positive for heartworms, had mange with severe hair loss, itching and red skin. She needed more care than the lady could handle so once her stray hold was up she became part of the FTTF Family in April 2021.
She is a beautiful, black & white, female 1.5 year old pitbull that weighs about 50 pounds. She had a rough start at life but is truly resilient and has spunk for life! She desperately needs a foster home or a forever home that can work on socializing her, teaching her basic training, manners and regularly get her exercise so she can burn off energy! This will all help her confidence! She was failed by humans but she has the will and desire to do better. She is crate trained and housebroken. She is more alpha than submissive and would probably do best with a male dog her size that can handle active play. She would also do fine as an only dog. Noodle completed her heartworm treatment on 6/7/21 & 6/8/21 and completed her crate rest post treatment. We wanted to give her some time to get healthy so she is scheduled to be spayed on 12/8/2021 and will be ready to go to a new home in time for Christmas!. She is a little unsure at times and takes a few minutes to warm up to new people. We know this girl will thrive in a home - we just have to find her one!
Adoption fee is $300.00. If you are interested in fostering her, learning more about or adopting Noodle please complete an adoption or foster application at: https://www.friendstotheforlorn.org. If you have any questions please email Holly at Holly@friendsotheforlorn.org
