We are a local non-profit, selective intake, animal shelter in Jefferson County, Florida. All funds raised go to support the animals, providing shelter, food, medical care and love. All our volunteers are committed to helping the animals in our community by providing service to the public through education, various fund raising events, animal awareness programs, rescue and adoption programs.


Wag the Dog Thrift & Treasure Shop
Located at 315 North Jefferson Street in Monticello. Please donate gently used items during operating hours, All proceeds benefit the animals at the shelter.

Items needed at the shelter:
•100% cotton king & queen size pillowcases
•100% cotton towels (30 in. by 40 in. preferred)
•Baby receiving blankets
•Cleaning supplies, paper towels, dawn liquid detergent.
* KMR (kitten milk replacer)
•Animal crates (all sizes)
*Animal Transport carriers (for cats & Small dogs)
*collars and leashes
•Animal toys ( Cat & Dog)
•Heavy duty garden hoses


Volunteers are always welcome at the shelter, Wag the Dog also welcomes volunteers. You can help by walking dogs, petting cats, cleaning, and general maintenance of the shelter grounds. At the thrift shops, volunteers help organize, clean, move heavy items, and sort donated goods.Every animal benefits when you volunteer your time.
