Paul was brought in late one night by Myrtle Beach police officers and we all immediately fell head over heels for this hunky guy. He is as sweet as they come. His tail is constantly wagging, he smiles from ear to ear and gives the bestest kisses around.

A couple of days after Paul came in, we noticed that his belly looked a bit swollen and so we brought him to the vet for an exam. The look on her face said it all. We rushed him to the ER for further testing. After xrays, bloodwork and ultrasounds we received the news none of us wanted to hear - Paul has a hemangiosarcoma - a large mass on his spleen. Our options were a painful and complicated splenectomy which would give him possibly 4 to 10 weeks, or a fospice home with medication where he could have the best days of his life. We chose the latter.

We all expected Paul to have just a few nights in a loving home before we had to make the impossible decision to help him cross the rainbow bridge. As a Hail Mary, we ordered supplements shown to help prolong the life of dogs with hemangiosarcomas. These supplements are expensive but 100% worth it if they gave Paul even just a few more days of the good life.

Well.... Paul has been living his very best life in an amazing fospice home for more than 2 months. Each day with him is a gift and he brings so much joy to everyone he meets. We are all so happy when Paul comes to visit us!! This boy leaves a smile on every face and a feeling of hope and love in every heart.

Orchid was rushed into our clinic just last week with a leg that was shattered and completely exposed down to the bones. It appeared that she had sustained these wounds at least a couple of days prior based on the degradation of the skin and tissue.

She was rushed immediately to the ER where it was determined that her leg needed to be amputated within hours or she would need to be euthanized. We of course gave approval to amputate right away.

Today, Orchid is still sporting her cone of shame, but she is otherwise a happy and healthy tripawd!! She is learning how to walk on three legs and has even started trying to jump up on things again!!

We were able to make that split second decision to save Orchid's life because we know that when push comes to shove, we can rely on our community to support these emergency medical costs. We are relying on you all today to help us pay off more than $17,000 in outstanding veterinary bills and replenish our Critical Care Fund so that we can continue to help angels like Orchid.

This is Rogue snuggled in tight on his sofa in his forever home where he is spoiled rotten and doted on constantly by his new mom and dad. Rogue's happily ever after almost wasn't possible.

Rogue was rushed through the doors by a family visiting Myrtle Beach who had just witnessed him being hit by a car on Hwy 17. The car sped away and this family rushed to Rogue's aid. They googled animal shelters in the area and brought him straight to us. We knew time was of the essence and we immediately rushed Rogue to the ER where he received full body xrays, IV fluids, steroids and was under the close observation of fabulous doctors until he was stabilized.

When he came back to GSHS from the ER, he was terrified and his in the back of his cage. Our staff showed this sweet boy so much love and attention that it wasn't long before he was romping through the park playing with toys and volunteers!! When a sweet young couple came to adopt an active, affectionate large pup we knew just who to show them...and it was love at first sight!!

Cha Cha and Rooney spent almost 2 years in the shelter before landing themselves in an amazing foster home. Both of these girls are very shy and scared of new people and places but they have truly blossomed in a home environment. 🏡

Their foster parents can no longer keep them and we are looking for a forever home for them ASAP!! If you would consider fostering instead of adopting, we are open to that also! Whatever keeps them out of the shelter!! 🐈🐾🐈

URGENT FOSTER REQUEST!!

Twinkie and Little Debbie are two senior gals that desperately need out of the shelter!! They love each other very much but are in separate kennels because we don't have a safe way to house them together. These beautiful girls are used to life in a home and have become very depressed in recent days.

Bugaboo came to GSHS as a stray a couple of months ago. We believe she had been hit by a car based on the way she was walking and some superficial scratches that she had. 💔🚙💔

Over the last several weeks, this sweet girl has come out of her she'll and blossomed into a playful and loving kitten that is ready for a forever home!! She does still walk a bit funny (xrays have shown there are no breaks or fractures.. this is just a residual neuro condition from her trauma) but we constantly reassure her that it's ok! It only makes her that much more adorable!!

Bugaboo is in an amazing foster home but the family is going out of town for Thanksgiving and the last thing any of us want is for this princess to land herself back in a cage. Can you help her find a home before the holiday??!! 💗🐕🏡🦃

This little nugget was pulled out of a car engine by one of our staff members a couple of weeks ago and has now landed himself a wonderful forever home!! We love seeing our shelter babes living their best lives in their new homes!!

Riley ruled the roost in the office area of our Joe White Ave shelter. When we had to relocate, he went home with one of our staff members because there was just no way King Riley would tolerate a cage. 👑

Now that we've broke the news to Riley that he won't be able to return to his office, he is ready to interview candidates for his forever home!! 🏡

He is approximately 8 years old, declawed, a bit sassy and a lot loving. Riley has a huge purrsonality and whoever gets to share their life with him will never be bored!!

GSHS dogs are out here in the community just saving lives!!

Ava fka Sunny was adopted by an amazing woman named Shannon who just happens to be one of the awesome veterinary technicians at @riveroaksah . A couple of weeks ago, a puppy was rushed into the hospital in critical condition and the team at River Oaks knew they had to act fast.

Shannon lives only a couple of minutes away from the hospital so she jumped in her car and raced home to get Ava who could donate the blood needed to save the pups life. Ava was the bestest donor and was very happy with her payment of a delicious ice cream cone on the ride home!!

The puppy survived and is thriving now thanks to our beautiful Ava and the unbelievable team at River Oaks Animal Hospital!! This story warmed our hearts this morning and we hope it does the same for all of you!! 💗❤💗
