We just want a home that will love us. We can ride out the hard times, we can wait long hours while you work to support us. It will be okay again. And I want to still be there when it is. I dont want another home, I want you, who I love.says furry me

The Salina shelter have wronged many people again and again. There are many shelters out there that are full of good people. But even though there are some at this shelter, mostly, they like to do what they can to take animals out of their loving homes and they leave the ones who need to be saved in the bad situatons that they are in.

I have been mocked infront of people by a member of the shelter to the point that I had to get a vets letter to shut her up. I had a prfectly healthy pup back then who was well trained, but the way they made it sound was as if he were half dead and never given attaintan at all.
There was another time that that one of the shelter women tried to steal my 2 dogs off their tie outs and take them in for dog at large. I caught her, so I was able to stop the act. It would have been my word against hers. Another time, I called in a little tiny dog running in the street durring school let out. The pound lady that picked him up, told me that it was MY responsibility to find his owners and tell them that I turned their dog in! Of course I waved her off as a nut job, but it did make me angry that she thought she could blow her job off on me. I could go on and on with the poor way this shelter treats the people and the way they cost animals their homes in the prosess!! And that helps animals?????? I dont think so!!

I have never said anythig bad about the vollunteers. Brad is wonderful and helped me with my dogs shyness. Even though some vollunteers have come accross as rude and was not only hearing this from others and have had my daughter deal with the rude side of them as well.... There are some that are quite nice and good to talk to. There is one, however by the name of Jenny Highsmith, that has contacted me. She feels that all of you (that incudes myself) who are having money issues should just give up your animals. You dont deserve your family members as much as your animals do NOT deserve to stay in the home that they love. She has judged ALL of us to not giving shots and not giving proper care JUST because we dont have money to sit on at all times incase of things going wrong. She would rather see them put down then to be in a loving home that has no money. Yet, she talks out of the other side of her mouth about how people just dont care and that its so sad they get put down. She judges ALL of us!! She is sure that there is no such thing as a dog GETTING out of a yard on their own. She makes it out as though you LET your dogs out of the yard. If you cant pick them up as the pounds fees are way to high, she makes it out as you WOULDNT pick them up! Even if she doesnt know if you even knew where your pet was. She judges us all to the worst, it makes herself look so much better.

HERES THE DEAL, the pound is wrotten to people. They treat us all as though we dont have a right to animals. If you do find yourself in a situation, then your bad for giving them up. People like Jenny thinks your bad for keeping your pets, even if they do get good care if you dont have money. Personaly, I have lived in my car with my dogs before, no money and barely ate. But my dogs had food, shots and care. You can have nothing and still give good care. Sometimes however, you do have to give up your pet to survive. When you cant afford that next bag of dog food its called UNselfish to take your dog where there is food for them. However, anyone who can not afford dog food, can not afford $25. fee to take them in. There for they are getting dumped in hopes that they find a home to give them food.

With knowing that they have tried to take my dogs off their tie outs to claim 'dog at large' I have issues with how high their fees are to pick up your dog too. Its to a point that if you have to wait on a check, its way more then you can afford for most people. To them, they dont care, they will get their money through adoption if not through you. They can care less about the animal had a home already that cared about them, they realy care more about the money they can bring in. No matter what you do, they do judge you unfairly. Some of the vollunteers are good but realy, you will get judged, just plan on it.

So with that said, I would like to come up with something that will help the animals. But first, you have to help their people. I would like to come up with something that will help people keep their pets, help the pets keep their homes. I have some ideas but I need some people that will be apart of it. I think we should have animal food drives that the food bank can give out to thoughs who have pets or something. I dont know. But to help where the problem is, is better then gathering them at the pound and looking down on all people and its better then forcing people to dump because the fees are so high to turn in.

ANYWAY, this is where you can vent your frusterations with the pound and where you can be apart of something that WANTS to help with no judgement to people in a hard time.

Dont be affraid to make a stand. Dont be affraid to say, I think its good to help animals but its not great to cost them good homes they aready have. Its okay to shout out, just because your helping animals does not mean that its okay to treat people badly!! Its okay to know that people are not perfect beings and we will mess up without being bad people. Its okay to try and help animals by helping people. Its okay to not judge people in a way to only make yourself look good!! Not all people are bad. Yes, some are, but most are not. Is it so bad to be humane to people so we can help the furry ones?
