IT'S #GIVINGTUESDAY
We would be honored for you to support Downtown Dog Rescue. With YOUR help over the years, we have been able to help thousands of people and their pets in financial need through our Pet Support Space and community based clinics. Current clients like like 4 year old APPLE's owner, a senior citizen on limited income and returning client at our Pet Support Space. She came to us worried about a golf ball sized growth on Apple's chest. We covered the cost of an exam and bloodwork and arranged for her tumor to be removed with a partner veterinary clinic.
14 year old MINI is another current client of ours. She has not been eating well for the past couple of weeks and her owners had taken her to a vet where she was diagnosed with pancreatitis and kidney disease. They were able to get some medication but hadn't seen any improvement. They contacted our counselors at the Pet Support Space and thankfully we were able to get Mini a same day appointment with our veterinarian. We covered half of the $525 it cost for her to be hospitalized for a plasma transfusion. Mini is currently at home recovering; her on-going care could take a month to six weeks and DDR will be here as a support for her family.
Your GIVING TUESDAY donation enables us to continue our community based work in 2022. We thank you for your support!
With warmth and gratitude,
The Downtown Dog Rescue Family

13 year old "Baby Blue Boy" was not doing well. His owner, who is experiencing homelessness, contacted one of our counselors, concerned about his senior cat's overall health. We wrote a medical voucher to one of our partner veterinarians so that Baby Blu Boy the care he needed. We spent $149.10 for an exam, x-rays, injection, and daily medication that should help this sweet senior cat feel better soon.
We continue to help more pets that are suffering, and need immediate veterinary care thanks to YOUR donation. #petsupportspace #seniorcat #homlessness #catsofฤฑnstagram #doinggood

This is 9 year old Blue ( photo taken when he was healthier) Blue's family was pleading with our Pet Support Space counselor to help end Blue's suffering. His family had enough money to pay for an exam, tests that revealed he had cancer, which spread throughout his body. His quality of life was declining, to a point, when they called our office, they could not watch him suffer another day. They did not have enough savings to pay for another hospital visit and humane euthanasia. Dignity at the end of life is important to us, as is eliminating suffering. We paid to have Blue humanly euthanized so that his forever family could be there at the end of his life, offering him love and comfort, something we all want for our senior and terminally ill pets that we love. Paying for humane euthanasia services is just one of the many types of medical cases that we sponsor each month for more than 20 years. #becauseweallneedhelpsometimes #endoflife #compassion #doinggood
2 year old Nelo accidentally pushed his way out of the back gate, ran down the alley, and was hit and dragged by a car that left him to die. His family, who immediately went in several directions searching for him, found him badly injured. Because one of the family members had brought her dog to our Spay and Neuter clinic, earlier that Sunday, she remembered counselor Amanda, called her crying, not knowing what to do, as a low income family without the ability to pay for an emergency room visit. Amanda knew that on a Sunday evening, it was a long shot to get in touch with one of our partner veterinarians, but he picked up, Amanda explained the situation, then decided to drive over to the home, and see what she could do for Nelo with doc on the phone. By the time Amanda arrived, the bleeding had stopped, he was alerted, and it didn't appear that he had any broken bones. Doc explained, step by step, how to bandage Nelo up to get him through the night. The next morning, Nelo's family brought him to one of our partner animal hospitals where he was examined, x-rayed, no broken bones, and given medicine to help him heal and to relieve pain. Several of the wounds did require drains and suturing. While under anesthetic, he was also neutered. With our rescue discount, the total cost was $500. Nelo's family was able to contribute $100 and we paid the $400 balance. This photo was taken on Amanda's return visit when she stopped by Nelo's home to deliver a cozy blanket, a doggy playpen, to make sure he can rest and heal. His family was so grateful for our support emotionally and financially. #doinggood #KNOWGOOD #petsupportspace
Laila recently had a sleepover with a volunteer and got to help shop for Christmas decoration. She was polite, enjoyed brisk walks, slept quietly through the night, loved to curl up on soft blankets, and showed great potential in interior design. ๐
This active, bright-eyed senior has been patiently waiting for a home for more than THREE YEARS and is about to spend another Thanksgiving, birthday, Christmas, and New Year with us again. It's time she got a family of her own to celebrate all the holidays and birthdays in her golden years. Apply to adopt Laila today and give her the perfect FOURTEEN BIRTHDAY gift โค๏ธ Application on our website downtowndogrescue.org
