Sid is still waiting to find his forever family and we just can't figure out why! He's a great puppy - a black mouth cur mix only about 7 months old.

Sid enjoys the company of other dogs of similar size. He hasn't been tested with cats. He'd be happy to live with respectful children 10 years old or older.

An active family would be ideal for Sid - he would love to be your hiking partner!

He is house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and knows his basic commands.

Sid is more comfortable with women than men. If there is a man in the family, he would need to be able and willing to take the time Sid needs to get comfortable with him.

He is a happy, friendly dog who is also a handsome guy :)

Kirk is new in the rescue as of a few days ago. He's a stunningly handsome 3-year-old boy who loves everyone! He's especially fond of females but is great with men as well.
Kirk is happy to make friends with other friendly dogs of similar size. He hasn't been tested with small dogs or cats yet. He's still learning manners, so he might bowl over small children, but would be fine in a home with children 10 years old or older.
Right now he's bunking with a short-term foster and will be moving to a longer-term foster soon. Unless ... of course ... he finds his forever home 🙂

We have been waiting for a long time to be able to put up this post. Adorable Princess is all healed up from her surgery and is ready to find her forever home!
Months ago, Princess came into the rescue as an emergency intake. Jenn Ct had received a call from her owners, who were at an ER vet with Princess, who had been hit by a car. They did not have the money for her care, and were considering euthanasia. We teamed up to save Princess, who was literally broken. One of her eyes had to be removed. Her pelvis was broken in several places, and her leg was damaged. She had extensive orthopedic surgery and thanks to the efforts of Jenn and Trey, the team at River Valley Veterinary Hospital, and Dr Pacchiana, her orthopedic surgeon, Princess was put back together again. She then required several months to heal - and was basically on crate rest. She has spent all of that time with Jenn and Trey, who have been totally committed from the very beginning to making sure that Princess got the care she needed.
Well ... it worked! These days Princess is an active, healthy, happy young dog! NOW all she needs is a wonderful forever family.
Princess is an adorable, tiny - only about 10 lbs - young dog, only about 1 year old. She is a Yorkie/chihuahua/Maltese terrier mix.
She is also a bit of a jumping bean. She is a very active, very playful pup 🙂
She loves other dogs. She is fine with cats. She would be happy to live with respectful children 10 years old or older. It takes her a minute or two to get to know new people. After that, she's your friend and just wants love and attention.
Princess would love a family with someone home at least part of the day, but would also do well with a family that works normal hours.
A fenced yard would be wonderful for her.
She would love an active family - she is a high energy dog.
Princess is full of life and is waiting to live her best life with her forever family.

Jackson is all healed from his surgery and is starting his search for his forever family! He only has one more step to go, and that is dental surgery on Oct 21. It should not take long at all for him to be ready to move to his forever home - and we'd love for that home to be ready and waiting for him :)

Several months ago Jackson had both his spleen and his gallbladder removed. Ever since we sprung him from Hartford Animal Control he's been with Jenn Ct and Trey who have moved mountains to coordinate his medical care, surgery, and recovery.

Jackson is about 9 years old. He's a cute-as-all-heck miniature schnauzer mix. He's playful and persistent :)

It takes Jackson a little while to get to know new people - once he does, he's a wonderful companion.

Jackson will be happy to live with other dogs and also with cats. He will do best in an adult home.

He would love a fenced yard where he can play in nice weather, and a family who will take him on walks and rides and adventures.

Jackson loves attention :) If you are retired or work from home, he would be thrilled - and if you work out of the home for a normal workday he would be just fine with that, too.

This boy has been through so much and is totally deserving of a fantastic forever home. He's available for adoption through both our regular adoption program and our Seniors for Seniors program.

Missy Gray is wondering when her forever family is going to find her! She's been with us at FFFR for a long time and she has been waiting patiently :)

After a long time in boarding when her foster family could no longer keep her, Missy has been with Jenn Ct in her board and train program and has done great! She's relaxed, decompressed, gained weight, and gotten a brush-up on her basics.

Missy does need to be an only pet. She is great with people :) She would be happy to live with respectful children 13 years old or older.

This good girl is house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and knows all of her basic commands. She will be an awesome new family member!

Gorgeous Sassy is still waiting for her forever home!

After spending six (!) years in a local pound, Sassy came into our rescue and has lived with our wonderful friend Jenn Ct for over a year in her board and train program.

Sassy is a senior at about 10 years old but still has a lot of pep in her step. She loves toys, balls, playtime outside, and walks.

She needs to be an only pet and needs an adult home.

It takes Sassy a bit of time to get to know new people. Once she does, she is a loyal friend and wonderful companion.

She would love a fenced yard and a family to take her on long walks and spend time playing with her.

Newton is waiting for his forever home! About six years old, he's a mixed breed dog (possibly basenji or Canaan Dog mix).

Newton will be happiest with an adult family with a quiet lifestyle. He does need to be the only dog in the home but would be fine living with a dog-savvy cat or two.

It takes Newton a few minutes to get to know new people. Once he does, he becomes a fast and loyal friend <3

He enjoys long walks and just "chilling" with his family.

Tommy had a meet and greet today, but it did not work out - no fault of Tommy's. One of the other dogs in the home was not a fan 🙁 So this adorable tiny pup is still looking for his forever home.
About two years old, Tommy is a dachshund mix, and a true cuddle-bug. He absolutely loves being loved ❤ He gets along well with other small dogs - he could easily be overwhelmed by a medium or large-sized dog - he weighs only 7 lbs and is a somewhat timid soul.
We think he would be fine living with dog-savvy cats - most of them would be larger than Tommy so if anyone feels overwhelmed it will probably be Tommy!
He will do best with a family whose lifestyle is fairly quiet - he would not do well with a lot of commotion. If there are children in the home, older children (13 years old or older) will be the best match.
We would like to see Tommy in a home with a confident (but not dominant) small dog - timid dogs tend to gain confidence from other dogs.
A fenced yard would be a huge plus for him - he is still getting accustomed to walking on a leash. He's doing well with that and making progress.
Tommy is cute as a button and will wiggle his way right into your heart in minutes ❤

Lava is relaxing in his foster home :) He's a sweet, playful, lovable puppy about 5 months old. Harry was out and about today! He met some new people, and even went on a ride on a golf cart. He did great 🙂
Only about 5 months old, Harry came into the rescue on Sunday. He's settling in well with his foster family. He's a little timid of new things, and the kind of socialization he had today is wonderful for him!
Harry is happy to make friends with other dogs. He would also be happy to live with respectful children 10 years old or older. He hasn't been tested with young children, or with cats. He was scared of chickens when he first saw them!
He will be seeing our vet, and once he has a chance to relax a bit more and for us to get to know him better, he'll be ready to find a fabulous forever family.
Harry would love a fenced yard, and an active family who will take him on adventures and continue to introduce him to new people, places and things.
