پناهگاه حیوانات سوهانک گروهی مردمي است كه تماما غير دولتي، غير انتفاعي و غير سياسي بوده و به دور از همراهي با هر گونه جريانات مقطعي اجتماعي و سياسي، به دنبال برآوردن اهداف دراز مدت و آرمانهاي خود خواهد بود. پناهگاه تشكلي كاملا مستقل بوده و به هيچ نهاد ديگري وابسته نمیباشد.
Sohanak Animal Shelter was established by a group of individual volunteers in 2006. We are located in north-east Tehran in the Alborz mountains. The shelter takes care of stray or homeless animals, mostly dogs. Volunteers would rescue stray dogs and bring them to the shelter when there is information about any planned extermination by the Tehran city authorities. Members of the public would also bring sick and injured strays for care at the shelter. The shelter receives financial and material donations from private individuals. Regretfully there is no State funding for animal shelters in Iran. There is a volunteer veterinarian who provides medical care for our animals.
