FIVCatRescue

FIV Cat Rescue is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We educate people about Feline immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).

FIV Cat Rescue's mission is to make the world safe for FIV cats through public education and to stop the arbitrary killing of these cats. To accomplish these goals, we:

1. Work with researchers to create and distribute FIV educational materials to vets, shelters and the general public.

2. Create and maintain a public database of shelters, rescues and sanctuaries that accept FIV cats.

3. Provide rescuers and caregivers the tools they need to help stop the killing of FIV cats.

4. Help people trying to save single FIV cats.

5. Educate the public about FIV.

6. Promote spay-and-neuter option to reduce cat over-population, spread of FIV, and euthanasia.

Our focus is to:

1. EDUCATING vets, animal rescues and shelters, and the public about FIV in order to increase awareness and change public perception.

2. ADVOCATING for their protection from arbitrary killing in the shelter systems.

3. SAVING LIVES by helping people find homes for homeless FIV cats, support TNR efforts, and promote spay and neuter.

FIV Cat Rescue currently has a clowder of 7 cats - 4 FIV and 3 Non-FIV - and 1 cat in a foster home. We no longer no longer takes in cats. We provide assistance to rescuers and guardians seeking a home for a homeless FIV cat, but we cannot accept responsibility for the cat. We do our best to help YOU find a home through networking and sharing of resources. We offer educational material and answers when you need them.

We have a site that lists Rescues Taking FIV Cats to help in finding homes for FIV cats or to adopt one. The site is located at http://franksterk.hubpages.com/hub/rescues-taking-fiv-cats and lists rescues by city/state.
