We don't want see any more Albanian bears used as photo attraction or behind cage bars!
This page hopes to raise awareness about the critical situation of bears in Albania. Mother bears are being killed and their cubs are being caged for entertainment or profit. Bears spend their lives in cages to attract customers in restaurants or parks. Bears are protected by law and considered endangered species in Albania but unfortunately the bear keepers are above the law. The lack of designated areas for captive bears combined with the lack of law enforcement makes their rescue a difficult task. The costs of rescuing a bear such as logistics, veterinarian care, food and administrative expenses are covered by the parties involved without financial support from the government of Albania. We don't know the exact number of bears held captive in Albania, it's maybe between 50 to 70 bears or more. No one knows the law no one respects the law because no one enforces the law.
