Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (TAWESO) is an all volunteer organization that works to help suffering animals in Tanzania under the following programs: Street Animal Health (veterinary care and sterilizations), Working Donkey Welfare, Policy and Advocacy and Humane Education in Primary schools and Communities

WE ARE BUILDING AN ANIMAL EDUCATION CENTER in partnership with Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Tanzania

Animal welfare in general is not a priority to the Tanzanian community as they are faced with many other life challenges, such as street children, extreme poverty and hunger. Thus, people do not have empathy to spare for street animals, which are often undernourished, affected by parasitic diseases, tortured and killed. The current state of animal welfare in and around Dar es Salaam can be cruel, with a desperate need of attention and a long-term, sustainable solution.

Our goal is to build a facility in Dar es Salaam that will house and accommodate the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of stolen, abandoned, abused and neglected animals. The facility will also serve as a base for community outreach and humane education programs, working particularly with the local Tanzanian Community.
