Maranoa Animal Rescue

Maranoa Animal Rescue

Maranoa Animal Rescue was founded to assist animals in the rural / remote areas of Western Queensland and Northern NSW.

Maranoa Animal Rescue will work to implement best practice sustainable animals health programs that ensure animals have a right to life; this means the right to a decent life that protects them from cruelty, abuse neglect, mutilation and suffering.
To implement the five basic animal needs that ensures animal welfare:
freedom from thirst, hunger and malnutrition
provision of appropriate comfort and shelter
prevention of, or rapid diagnosis and treatment, of injury, disease or infestation with parasites
freedom from distress
the ability to display normal patterns of behaviour.

To have an “open door” policy between veterinarians - non-veterinarian animal welfare providers and animal owners.

To rehabilitate - re-home abandoned neglected and unwanted animals into caring – loving homes.

To assist the less advantaged communities care for their animals.

Focus on educating the public especially children and to eradicate ignorance about animals.

To actively promote sterilization programs as an animal population control measure; and to have every animal identifiable by micro chipping.

Maranoa Animal Rescue opposes the destruction of healthy animals but does accept there may be valid cases where euthanasia is the most humane option. Animals suffering with a painful terminal disease and animals that represent a danger to humans or other animals may only be euthanized by procedures which have proved to be painless and must be administered by a qualified Veterinarian.
