East Tennessee Miniature Horse and Donkey Rescue

We strive to be a safety net for miniature horses, donkeys and mules that are at risk of being homeless or going to auction.

Our mission is three fold: To be a safety net for miniature horses, donkeys and mules that are at risk of being homeless or going to auction. To educate potential adopters and mini owners of the care and needs of these little equines. To educate the public about the plight of the unwanted horse.

East Tennessee Miniature Horse and Donkey Rescue (ETMHD) was started because like minded friends saw a need for help in the equine community and were determined to find a way to help. The goal of ETMHD is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome as many at risk miniature horses, donkeys and mules as possible and adopt them out to the right families.
ETMHD relies on donations in order to do its work. Donations help provide for initial purchase at auction, vet care, food and shelter. Donations also make it possible for ETMHD to transport and assist with owner surrenders when there are openings in the rescue.
ETMHD uses donations to assist with public education on the plight of the unwanted mini and other equines.
ETMHD is not funded by any grants, only by people who want to make a difference.
