Horse Shoe Equine Rescue

501 c 3 nonprofit organization

Stop the slaughter of horses! Help abused and neglected horses. Our end goal is to help horses physically and emotionally so they get can learn to trust again and find a permanent loving home. We also have nine mini horses and donkeys that live at the rescue. They go to special need centers, nursing homes and daycares. We also have many special need groups that come to the rescue and volunteer.

I would like to tell you a little about our rescue. We are a 501c3 horse and livestock rescue. We are located in the north end of Terre Haute, Indiana. We have been up and running for six years now. Three years ago, we became "official" as a 501C3 non-profit organization. We take in horses and other livestock that have been seized by animal control. We also take in animals that were once beloved pets who have fallen victim to the current economic crisis. We also rescue horses that have been set for slaughter. We currently have mini donkeys, jennies, goats and alpacas that live here at the rescue. We visit daycare centers, special needs facilities, as well as nursing homes to educate people regarding the care animals need, while also educating them on the day to day tasks that are performed here at the rescue. We have a close working relationship with C.A.R.S., Community Connection and Happiness Bag. The clients from these organizations works with the animals and do some cleaning. The clients look forward to coming out and we enjoy having them. It gives them a purpose, as well as a sense of belonging. The rescue has no paid empoyees. We are rely entirely on our volunteers, fundraisers and donations.
