Last Stop Horse Rescue

Last Stop Horse Rescue is a 501c3 non profit organization
Licensed with the State of Georgia and the State of Maine

Last Stop Horse Rescue is an organization dedicated to making a better life for horses that have been abused, abandoned, neglected, or starved. We are a licensed horse rescue for the state of Maine, located on a twenty acre farm in Prentiss, Me. We assist local law enforcement, animal control, and animal welfare agents by helping in their efforts to rescue horses in need. To provide food, shelter, medical care, and compassion to horses in our care. Rehabilitation of these horses will be set up for success by following Parelli Natural Horsemanship. The principles of love, language, and leadership in equal doses will be followed. There will be no force or intimidation, and we will rely on gentleness in our leadership. There are seven important things we want the horse to have when they are in our care, or in their adoptive home: nourishment, love, trust in humans, confidence, curiosity, sensitivity, but most of all their dignity.

Licensed with Maine Animal Welfare. We are strictly a horse rescue with no other equine business on site. We do not use rescued horses in lesson programs, and all horses have sanctuary in a natural herd environment where round bales of hay and water are in abundance, and there is no competition for food, water, or shelter. Each winter in Maine the horses at the rescue have access to heated water from tubs with electric heated so their water will never freeze, and those in need of waterproof winter blankets are provided for. We rehabilitation the horses with Parelli Natural Horsemanship, and those who are ready for adoption are given the opportunity to pick their humans. We volunteer all of our time to the care of the horses at the rescue, and 100% of all donations go directly to the care of the horses. As a 501c3 non profit organization, donations are tax deductible.
