You have the power to give a suffering animal new hope ❤
We believe in investing the time and energy needed to heal every animal, even those with special medical needs. Your #GivingTuesday gift to the Norfolk SPCA HOPE Fund provides medical care for senior animals like Panko so they can be as happy and healthy as possible before adoption. 🐩
PLUS… give today and your gift will be DOUBLED, thanks to a generous match from the Norfolk SPCA Board of Directors, up to $10,000. That means a gift of $10 becomes $20, $25, becomes $50, and $50 becomes $100!
Help us reach out goal of $5,000 - Give now! Click the link in our bio 😁
Panko, an abandoned senior Cockapoo, suffered from eye and ear infections. Our veterinary team discovered that Panko did not produce enough tears, causing his eyes to dry out and become infected. Once evaluated, we began giving him eye medications daily. Additionally, both of Panko’s ears had severe bacterial and yeast infections. Luckily, this condition was also treatable.
With the correct diagnosis and proper medications, Panko was ready for adoption. Despite all of Panko’s setbacks, he is still a spunky, sweet senior with some extra spring in his step. We are excited to share that Panko found his loving home this month! He is happy and healthy thanks to the HOPE Fund.
When his longtime human companion's health took a turn for the worse, Jack Black arrived at our shelter after 15 long years in his home.
Despite the change in environment, Jack maintains a happy-go-lucky personality and greatly enjoys going on adventure walks with staff and volunteers.
Jack has experience around other dogs as well as children of all ages. Ideally, he'd love a "retirement home" setting where he can spend his remaining golden years stress-free and happy.
Did you know that November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month? What better way to celebrate than giving a dog like Jack the happiness of a new beginning! ❤️
Did you know the Norfolk SPCA is also a temporary home for small mammals searching for their perfect match? 🐰
We currently have a variety of adoptable rabbits to choose from! Rabbits are extremely intelligent, social animals who show affection just like the dogs and cats you may already share your homes with.
Swipe ⬅️ for photos of some of our current adoptables enjoying some fresh vegetables! 🥕🥬🍠
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at the Norfolk SPCA! While our adoption center is closed to the public today, staff is here providing care and special holiday treats for the animals. ⬅️ Swipe to see some of our animals enjoying their turkey (free of skin, fat, oil, butter, and bones of course!) Extra special thank you to our board Vice President, @amyfranklinharrington for providing breakfast treats for the staff who are working today. ❤️
We are tremendously thankful for our hardworking staff, volunteers, fosters, and adopters. We couldn't save lives without you!
We open back up for adoptions tomorrow, Friday, 11/26, from 1 pm - 4:30 pm. 🦃
Continuing with our celebration of National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, we'd like to introduce you to Chucky! 🐾
Chucky was transferred in from our friends at @norfolkanimals and is a handsome 8 year old Chocolate Labrador and Doberman mix. Despite his age, Chucky hasn't showed any signs of slowing down and would love an active home with plenty of games of fetch in his future! Scroll ⬅️ to see Chucky in action. ❤️
We love these photos from Norfolk SPCA staff member and foster mom, Lindsey! This little one is receiving around-the-clock bottle 🍼 feeding and care as part of Norfolk SPCA's Foster Program.
Being a foster parent is one of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities we have! You get to cuddle with kittens and puppies, care for animals during their medical recovery periods or help us teach a few key social skills which will assist a pet in finding their forever home. We will provide you with needed supplies and our caring vet staff is here to provide any necessary medical care your foster pet may need along the way. You promise to provide all the TLC the animals need. ❤️

Did you know that November is National Adopt a Senior Pet month? Panko is a sweet senior (estimated to be between 7 - 10 years old) Miniature Poodle mix who we transferred in from our friends at @adoptable_dogs_of_vbac last month. Like most senior animals, Panko has some additional medical needs, but he doesn't let anything slow him down! Panko is as sweet and spunky as ever, and simply awaits a family who is willing to provide the care he needs in his golden years. ✨
Grey is asking if she has anything on her face. 🍝🍕🥩 Should we tell her?! All jokes aside, with a face like this, and a larger than life personality, this kitty is destined to be the next feline Instagram star! ⭐
So, you're probably wondering... why the messy eater? Grey was born with malocclusion, or the misalignment of her teeth, causing her to have an overbite. This does not cause her any harm, and she has a hearty appetite! She simply requires a little face cleaning post-meal.
Grey was originally transferred in from @adoptable_dogs_of_vbac and has been waiting for a home since October. Make sure you swipe ⬅️ to see her personality in action! ❤️
Meet Sage! 🌿 We have nothing but good things to say about this sweet, brindle beauty of a Mastiff! Sage was transferred over from our friends at @norfolkanimals back in September. She was a staff favorite at NACC, and she has quickly become a favorite here too! We wanted to highlight Sage because she is consistently overlooked, despite being wonderful with people of all ages—even kids! Sage is what we like to refer to as a "gentle giant"—while she's a larger breed of dog, she has a calm demeanor, loves to cuddle, and walks beautifully on leash. Sage would do best in a home with no other animals where she can be loved and doted on by her adoring human fans. ❤️
👑 Meet Lazlo! 👑 The name "Lazlo" is known to mean "famous ruler", and in this instance, our Lazlo is the ruler of snuggles and affectionate headbutts ❤️. Lazlo was recently transferred in from our friends at @norfolkanimals , and he's still waiting patiently for a forever lap to lay on. This handsome guy is thought to be around 3 years old, and he has been known to get along with other felines and humans of all ages. Can Lazlo join your kingdom? ✨
🚨 HELP! 🚨 We are completely out of newspaper! Do you have any to spare? We use newspaper to make "shreddies" for our in-house puppies. Not only do puppies love to romp in the fresh shreddies, but they also keep puppy enclosures cleaner! Our puppies thank you!
Newspaper donations can be dropped off at our shelter: 916 Ballentine Blvd. Norfolk, VA 23504 🐾
⭐ These puppies are not available for adoption quite yet, but they have plenty of friends waiting to meet you! ⭐
Starting your Sunday right... with kittens! 🐾😻 This little crew was transferred in from our friends at @adoptable_dogs_of_vbac and the whole family is being fostered in a home by one of our amazing volunteers. They are too young to be adopted, but come visit us today from 1 pm - 4:30 pm to check out some of their adoptable friends!
