Hi! My name is Lola - aren't I gorgeous?! I am a 4-year-old pit bull mix and am incredibly smart, if I do say so myself. I know commands like sit, down, come, stay and place. I'm a VERY good listener and want nothing more than to be the best girl and please my human. I'm also great in the crate, am polite and well-mannered on the leash, and have never had an accident in the house. Do I sound too good to be true? Well, trust me, I'm not!

If you're looking for a dog to take on hikes, I'm your girl! But if you'd prefer to have a lazy Sunday watching TV on the couch, I'm down for that, too. I like to play with other dogs but can tend to be overly protective of my food, so I would do best with an experienced dog owner who will help me maintain the good behaviors I've learned while with Hope Animal Rescue. I also would prefer a home without children.

I have some allergies but they're easily managed with regular medication. I'm really hoping to find a family I can trust and love who will help me continue flourishing and enable me to be the best dog I can be! Could you be the one?

🍽🍁 Happy Thanksgiving 🍽🍁 to those that celebrate! We appreciate each and every one of you - from fosters to volunteers to donors and folks that share our pups’ stories. Without all of you, we wouldn’t be able to continue to rescue the kinds of dogs that we do!

We’re feeling a little extra thankful today knowing that our sweet Grace girl was able to get the care she needed thanks to all of YOU! She had surgery a couple of days ago to remove her hernia and is recovering well in her foster home (despite the surgery being high risk for her age). Unfortunately there’s not much that can be done about her jaw - it’s deteriorated over the years due to infection and neglect.

❤️GRACE UPDATE❤️:

First, thank you all for your love, support, well wishes, positive vibes, prayers, etc., for our sweet new senior lady we added to the HAR pack earlier this week.

When we got her from the shelter, we were told she had no teeth, that her lower jaw was missing, and that she had a large tumor that would need to be removed. One of our amazing partner vets, @carpenteranimalhospital, was able to see her yesterday to determine next steps and unfortunately things are worse than what we were initially told 🥺. The vet is shocked that Grace can even eat, given the situation with her jaw and it’s unclear how long it will remain functional. She also doesn’t have a tumor…the “tumor” is actually a large hernia that is pushing her intestines very out of place and she will need invasive surgery to fix this 😞.

This poor sweet girl has been through A LOT and we cannot imagine the discomfort she’s been feeling for a while. But she seems to be in good spirits and is settling in to her foster home with @thepaipack well.

We’ll continue to keep you all updated as we learn more from her vet team about next steps. A HUGE THANK YOU 🙌 goes out to everyone that donated toward her care the other day. Her surgery estimate is $1,600-$2,000 (which is double what we were initially expecting 😬😬), but thanks to your support we are going to be able to help her ❤️❤️.

✨SENIOR INCOMING✨! Say hello to our newest senior gal, Grace. This sweet lady came in to an NC shelter as a stray and needed out yesterday so one of our amazing foster homes, @thepaipack, stepped up to foster her. Unfortunately Grace came into the shelter in pretty poor condition 😔 - she is missing all of her teeth, as well as her lower jaw 🥺, and she has a large tumor on her abdomen that she’ll need to have removed and tested. We’re not sure what she’s endured in the past or how she got here, but we’re going to do everything we can to help her ❤️!

M E E T 🐶G U N N E R🐶!

This sweet man has been with us around a month and has been flying under the radar as he settled into his new foster home. But he's pawficially ready for adoption! He's also right on the edge of old man territory, so we’re considering him an honorary senior since this month is ✨ National Adopt A Senior Pet Month ✨!

Meet Gunner! He's a 7 year old mountain cur (with some other breeds mixed in) looking for a family that will give him lots of love and chest scratches. Gunner is an incredibly sweet, gentle guy. He likes nothing more than to sit by his person chewing on a bone. He's also a big fan of medium-length walks with ample opportunities to sniff (and munch) plants.

Gunner came to us after spending the past several years in a crate around the clock. Despite this, he's happy, healthy, and has the sweetest disposition! Since being in his new foster home, he's relearning typical dog behaviors and is making great progress! Gunner knows "sit" and "shake" and is working on mastering some other basic commands and fine tuning his leash skills. He's a smart guy and a quick study!

Gunner would do great in a home where he has companionship during the day and a fair amount of exercise. He will also do best with someone who can continue to be patient with him and continue and reinforce his training.

This sweet and gentle boy is ready for a new chapter with a new person who will give him all the love and attention he deserves!
