Your donations today will go towards saving more animals like Buffy. When you donate on this Giving Tuesday, your donation will be matched up to $5,000. Please donate if you can on this Giving Tuesday and help us save more animals. Donate at bit.ly/givingtuesdaykhs.
Buffy came into the shelter as a three-month-old kitten, and like lots of stray kittens we take in every month, she had ringworm. That means that she had to be isolated from other animals. Her first several months in the shelter were so scary for her because she didn't know that we were doing this because we wanted her to get better. Ringworm treatment requires dipping the cat in a bucket of solution and it's not fun for anyone. She was scared and alone and stressed. So, she developed an upper respiratory infection, as stressed cats often do. As much love as we gave her, it wasn't enough to make her understand that all of this medical treatment was for her own good. So, by the time she hit the adoption floor, she was older and not as friendly as some of the other cats and so she was passed up over and over again. She just went into foster care a couple of weeks ago and she's already warmed up so much. In the shelter, she would hardly ever interact with anyone, but within her first week of foster care she's already playing and socializing with people. It just goes to show how vital getting animals into foster care is. Your donations will go to supplies for our foster animals, medical treatment like what we gave Buffy and so much more. Mahalo for your support on this Giving Tuesday.

Please donate today to help KHS save more dogs like Sir Wallace! Your donation will be matched by up to $5,000 when you donate on this Giving Tuesday!
Donate at bit.ly/givingtuesdaykhs.
Sir Wallace was rescued from a neglectful home. He was severely dehydrated, emaciated, had a blood disease, terrible mange and a hurt leg. He was so sick, he couldn't even stand up.
He was immediately given life saving medical treatment and then put into foster care where he not only healed physically, but learned to love and be a normal dog.
He was adopted on island and is very happy with his new family. He now goes by Ramsey and has three human sisters whom he loves dearly and one human baby brother that he wrestles with and watches over. He sleeps at the foot of the bed and has settled into his new home.
Your donation today will go towards equipment, medicine, medical treatment of animals, supplies given to foster families caring for shelter animals, and so much more. It will go to saving hundreds of dogs with stories similar to Sir Wallace.
Please make your lifesaving donation today so that KHS may continue to save hundreds and thousands of more lives.

Taco is our Foster Friday Feature this week. Taco is a six-month-old male domestic shorthair black cat. This little guy has grown up in the shelter and has been a little more unsure of people than his siblings were and so he’s watched them all get adopted one by one and he’s been left alone.
Getting him into foster care would give him the opportunity to warm up to people and potentially become comfortable enough to come out of his shell some more. He’s not afraid of people. He knows that people bring food and toys to play with, but he’s unsure. Having that one-on-one time in a safe environment would do this guy wonders in getting him adopted.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Taco contact the Foster Team at Fosters@kauaihumane.org or message the Kauai Humane Society on Facebook or Instagram @kauaihumanesociety.
