There are too many animals discarded or 'put to sleep' because they need time to heal - whether it be because they are ill, have suffered abuse or neglect, or because they have other special needs. Shelters and rescue groups cannot always cater for them and allow them the time and care that they need. Kathy firmly believes that these animals also deserve a 'second chance' at a happy, healthy life.

The Sanctuary's mission is to provide all the animals it has offered refuge with the highest quality care and holistic, integrated treatments; whilst allowing them all the time and security that they need to heal and flourish.

Kathy aims to provide the animals in her care with an environment that is as natural and therapeutic as possible. She utilises a holistic healing approach which incorporates all aspects of the animal's well-being.
For instance, the dogs and cats are not housed alone in small concrete cages; rather they are treated as part of the family and they receive a lot of human (and supervised non-human!) interaction. This socialisation, along with time, love, natural diets and supplementation, is an integral component of their healing and enhances their capacity to overcome trauma.
Kathy is an experienced animal guardian and can provide this level of care and interaction, because she doesn't take on too many animals at once. Kathy aims to take on just enough animals so she knows she can give each and every one the time, love, respect and nurturing they need and deserve.
