LIFE Farm Animal Sanctuary Trust

L.I.F.E. (Living In a Free Environment) Farm Animal Sanctuary is the first farm animal sanctuary in India, a haven for rescued farm animals.

Our mission is to, within our scope, provide shelter and veterinary treatment for rescued animals, and set up training programs to educate the local population to stop animal cruelty.

L.I.F.E. {Living In a Free Environment} Farm Animal Sanctuary Trust: a non-profit organisation that provides care and compassion to abused, injured and abandoned farm animals.

At L.I.F.E. our mission is to, within our scope, provide shelter, care and veterinary treatment for rescued animals and set up training programmes to educate the local population to stop animal cruelty.

On 5th January 2012, Lorenzo Standen, president and founder of L.I.F.E, rescued a few animals and set them up at Mapoli, which then became the inception of L.I.F.E. Farm Animal Sanctuary Trust. Starting with three horses, four buffaloes, one cow, five goats, one ram, 20 dogs and 15 cats, the number of animals at the farm has gradually increased with an active involvement of the locals at Mapoli and neighbouring areas. The overwhelming response from the locals led to L.I.F.E. being registered as a Trust and a Society in 2015.

At L.I.F.E, there are close to 200 animals, which have either been rescued due to sickness, injury or abandonment. The numbers fluctuate with admissions and adoptions. Some of the animals at life are cows, bulls, buffaloes, horses, donkeys, emus, pigs, geese, ducks, guinea fowls, dogs, cats, poultry, sheep, ram and goats.

With a steady increase in the number of farm animals and the recent beef ban, there has been a rise in the number of cattle being abandoned at the gates of the farm. Caring for these farm animals by building the necessary infrastructure is only going to be possible with your contribution.

We require volunteers as well as donations in cash or kind. The contributions will help nurse injured animals back to health and develop the infrastructure, making it an ideal home for all rescues.

We look forward to your generous support. We aim to regularly update you on the progress and invite you to visit the farm.
