Tri-Lakes Humane Society
Located in beautiful Saranac Lake, NY, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, our mission is to provide safe shelter to all stray, abandoned and unwanted companion & domestic animals. www.trilakeshumanesociety.petfinder.com
The Tri-Lakes Humane Society is a private, No-Kill, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our day to day goal is to provide the best temporary home, and loving care for our animals until they can find new forever homes.
We are proud to say that we have placed over 3000 pets into new homes, and reunited over 1000 pets with their owners, since 2001.
Our staff and Board of Directors work toward educating the public about proper animal care including spaying and neutering, outdoor housing, providing proper sustenance, veterinarian care, and the many state and local laws and ordinances that a pet owner should be made aware of. We also assist local Law Enforcement with Animal Cruelty investigations and emergencies.
The Tri-Lakes Humane Society covers a large geographic area in 4 counties (Franklin, Essex, Clinton & Hamilton). Under contract with local Towns & Villages, we provide both Shelter & Dog Control services for the residents.
As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on monetary donations from supporters to keep our doors open to helping the homeless animals in our area. Our volunteer Board of Directors are constantly planning fundraiser events, and we also have gained a lot of support from local businesses that assist us with fundraising. We gladly accept monetary donations of any amount, as every dollar helps us continue our mission to help the animals in our care. We also accept donations of pet food, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, etc.
If you are unable to adopt a pet, and can not always give a donation, consider donating your time to become a TLHS Volunteer! We enjoy having people come in and spend time helping us take care of our shelter animals each day.

Today is #GivingTuesday and a great opportunity for you to make a difference for animals in need!
If you can, please consider donating today, creating your own fundraiser for our shelter, or becoming a monthly donor. Anything and everything helps make sure that the animals in our care receive everything they need, from the little things that bring joy to life-saving medical care.
Your support changes lives. With your help, we can help them complete their journey from homeless to home. That's the power of giving. That's the power of you.

Doc, Hugo, and Luna know first-hand that you just can’t put a price tag on the value on a second chance. They were surrendered to the shelter when their family became homeless. Thanks to your generosity, they received veterinary care, nutritious food, warm beds, toys, socialization, and lots of loving care. Doc, Hugo, and Luna each enjoyed the one-on-one attention they needed to prepare them for loving homes. Now, each one will celebrate the holidays with families of their own . . . a gift you made possible. That’s the power of giving: changing the lives of animals in need.
Together, we can make giving contagious and increase our capacity to transform the lives of animals in the Tri-Lakes region. So, we hope you’ll share your reason for giving by posting an un-selfie to let others know what means most to you. Let’s inspire others to make meaningful change for animals in need. Because every dog deserves a chance.
Giving Tuesday is tomorrow (11/30/21)! All donations made on Facebook will be matched up to $8 million. Not only can you spread the spirit of giving, you can see your generosity doubled! #unselfie #becausetheymatter #GivingTuesday #adirondacks #adk #adirondog #adkdog #dackdog #savinglittlelives #trilakeshumanesociety #saranaclake #saranaclakeny #tupperlake #tupperlakeny #lakeplacid #lakeplacidny #powerofgiving #secondchances #animalsmatter

There are plenty of animals at the shelter hoping for someone to love and share the holidays with. You can spread the love by bringing one of them home for the holidays. Our Home for the Holidays adoption special was created for just that reason, because there's no place like home for the holidays.
We're offering all adoptions for just $40 now through January 1st. If you have room in your home and heart, consider adopting a pet this holiday season!

BUDDY is grateful for stuffies. He just can’t live without a stuffed animal. BUDDY likes to sleep with them, hold them in his mouth when he’s excited, and carry them around. The staff is more than happy to make sure he always has a rotating cast of stuffies, because variety is the spice of life.
Maintaining an ever-changing supply of stuffed animals for BUDDY is just one of the many little things your support makes possible to ensure joy is always in the rotation for BUDDY and the other animals waiting for homes.
It’s the little things that make all the difference. While we work to find the animals in our care loving homes for the holidays, your generosity means they’ll know love, companionship, understanding, warm beds, healthy meals, treats, games, and toys (even stuffies!) while they wait. Giving Tuesday is on November 30th and Facebook will be matching donations up to $8 million. That means that for donations made on Tuesday, your generosity can go twice as far in bringing joy to animals like BUDDY! Please consider taking part in our Facebook campaign on Tuesday and spreading some holiday cheer to animals in need.

Dear Amy,
We said goodbye to you today. Our hearts are heavy with your loss. You were so much more than a constant in our lives, you were a presence. You knew how to fill a room.
Amy, you lived for over two decades, which is more than most cats can boast. You helped the shelter with humane education, visited seniors, and served as our mascot. You always pawed it forward. You might not have had a traditional home, but that’s only because those who loved you could never fit under just one roof.
Amy, you were loved by all the staff who knew you over the years, each visitor, and every volunteer. There are even some little cats who will wonder why you’re not here.
Amy, we were honored to know and love you. We will miss your raspy meow, telling us what to do, we already miss making your soup . . . there just isn’t much we won’t miss about you. We’re sad you couldn’t stay with us longer, but we know you were ready to go. Just know that this love will last a lifetime.
Love,
Your Family

UMA is grateful to be treated like a queen. Some cats like to snuggle or be carried around, but UMA’s favorite thing is to be in charge. Whether she’s overseeing work in the office, directing staff on where to place her treats, or on bird patrol at one of her viewing stations, UMA lives for control.
Helping UMA be the master of her domain is just one of the little things you make possible to ensure joy is a BIG thing for UMA and the other animals waiting for homes.

For the animals at the shelter still looking for homes, it's the little things that make all the difference. This is the season of gratitude and some of the animals at the shelter wanted to share what they're most grateful for this year.
JAYNE is grateful for food enrichment. Whether a food puzzle, stuffed kong, or kibble search, she's always excited to find out which food game the staff has prepared for her each day. For JAYNE, 'will work for food' is more than just a saying . . . it's a code to live by!
Food enrichment is just one of the many little things you make possible to ensure joy is always a factor for JAYNE and the other animals waiting for homes.

The holidays are meant to be shared with those you love. The animals at the shelter may still be waiting for homes of their own, but they haven’t given up hoping for someone to love and share the holidays with.
Our Home for the Holidays adoption promotion hopes to help make their wishes come true. So, we're offering all adoptions for just $40 from 11/24/21-1/1/22. If you've been thinking of adding a furry family member to your home, consider bringing them home for the holidays!

FOUND CAT
This black white, adult assumed unneutered male (unable to physically check at this point) was found on Blue Spruce Way/St Regis Avenue in Bloomingdale. He has been coming around looking for food and shelter since the spring and summer months. He appears to have been outdoors for a while, and is now at our Humane Society.
If you recognize this cat please call our office at (518) 891-0017.
Proof of ownership is required to claim a cat, along with a current rabies vaccination certificate, as required by NYS and local animal control laws.
