To provide a quality life to the animals who need it most.
Welcome to Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary:
The Underdog's Last Hope!
Wayward Ranch was created by four friends who share the same dream of rescuing animals that have been left behind. We are working towards 501c3 status and our end goal of having a sanctuary and training facility where animals deemed "unadoptable" can live out their lives comfortably. Our first step in achieving our goal is starting off as a foster based organization.
Our dream is dedicated to the dogs we have loved and seen deteriorate in the traditional shelter environment. Some of these dogs never make it out of the shelter because their stressed behaviors make them less desirable for adoption or even potentially more aggressive and therefore unfit for adoption. When we reach our end goal of a sanctuary facility we will be able to find dogs in need of behavioral rehabilitation training or lifelong care and bring them to the sanctuary rather than them being euthanized in the traditional shelter system.

It’s a sad day here at Wayward 💔
This week we had to make the painful decision to let our beloved Joker cross over.
The Gotham 3 are now the Gotham 2
About a week ago Joker started exhibiting symptoms of what appeared to be was lameness. That lameness quickly escalated to an inability to stand. Our vet diagnosed Joker with Meningeal worms.
For those of you who don’t know Meningeal worms are neurotropic nematode parasite common to white tailed deer, which causes damage to the central nervous system.
Our vet immediately started Joker on medicine to help combat the parasite, but the prognosis was guarded. Two nights ago Joker took at turn for the worse and we rushed him to Cornell- the premier large animal vet in the northeast. Upon arrival the vets at Cornell were concerned that not only did Joker have Meningeal worm, but also that his stay apparatus of his hind limb was destroyed.
This may have been due to an acute injury or degeneration of his tendons/ligaments. Essentially Joker was walking on his hocks.
These two conditions coupled together made his chance of recovery impossible. Along with the advice of our vet and the vets at Cornell we came to the heart wrenching decision to let Joker go. Joker was surrounded by love up until the last second of life. He was a huge part of Wayward. He helped to socialize our goat rescue cases, gave visitors hundreds of hours of joy and was family to our staff. We will miss him more than words can ever express. 💔

Baby Raymond update !
He’s not baby anymore !
Raymond is growing up into a handsome and big boy. He is becoming one of the friendliest pigs at the ranch and runs up to greet visitors.
This not so little spotted boy is still in search of his forever home! He would love a home with other pig friends to keep him company! #waywardranchanimalsanctuary #raymond

Bugs needs dental work!
Mr. Bugs has points on his teeth (this is a common bunny problem)! He needs his points filed down so his teeth don’t cut his tongue.
Unfortunately this is an expensive procedure. We need to raise $1200 for his dental continuing vet care for his respiratory infection.
Please donate!! #waywardranchanimalsanctuary

Bugs is back !
Unfortunately his owner could no longer care for him so he has been returned to WRAS. He came back to us with a pretty nasty respiratory infection, but he is now on the mend !
Bugs is a senior bunny around 7 or 8 years old. He enjoys long cuddles and hanging out with humans! Bugs is currently up for adoption ! #bugs #waywardranchanimalsanctuary
