Lyric Farm

Lyric Farm

We currently sell farm fresh eggs, and do public appearances with our various rescued farm animals. We expect to be expanding greatly over the next year!

Hi! I'm Michelle, the Singing Farmer--a vocalist with a passion for critters and nature! With the help of my reluctant honey, Chris, and my longsuffering parents, I run Lyric Farm.

Lyric Farm (although it was not called that at the time) got its start ten years ago, when, in addition to the six rescue cats I already had, I rescued one lamb, one goat kid, and four rabbits. (Chris was completely speechless for two whole days; my parents took it in stride.) Since that time my menagerie has grown and I find myself looking for land of my own on which to house it. I have identified a piece of property that will work well for us, and am hoping to be able to acquire it with some help from the public. (This means YOU!)

In addition to selling eggs, once we are on the new property, we will be expanding to include selling heirloom and other non-GMO produce from our farmstand, and eventually as shares in a CSA (community supported agriculture) program. Community garden space will be available for those who would like to try their hand at gardening but don't have a good place to do it.

We will be offering opportunities for members of the public to learn about growing their own food, cooking with vegetables, preserving their harvest, caring for the types of animals we have on the farm (before they dive into keeping any for themselves), processing wool, spinning, knitting, crocheting, soap making, and cheese making, among other fun stuff!

We will also be hosting summer day camps and field trips for school groups to come learn about growing food, animal care, and both forest and wetland ecology. We have a GREAT team of experienced and knowledgable people who will be helping with all of the above!

And, as always, interaction with the animals is encouraged! We are pursuing our status as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization as an animal rescue. It will be called "The Refuge at Lyric Farm". Feel free to contact us if you are interested in volunteering as we'd love the help! Once we we have our non-profit status for The Refuge, the time you spend volunteering can equate to a charitable donation on your income taxes! (But please be sure to clarify the terms with your tax professional.)

In the meantime, we are continuing to make appearances with various animals from the herd for birthday parties, family reunions, and at places such as churches, summer camps, Vacation Bible Schools, libraries, community functions and Live Nativity presentations. Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to have us come to YOUR event!

On this page you will see pictures of the critters and updates on our status as we work toward making the dream come true!
