We are a group of active shelter volunteers in Chattanooga who know shelter dogs, and want to find forever homes for the many terrific pets who need them.

Are you thinking of adopting a dog? Many adopters fall into one of the following categories. They:
- Aren’t sure what dog is right for them;
- Want a specific kind of dog but are willing to wait for a rescue/shelter dog to adopt because they want to save animals’ lives;
- Are first-time dog owners and have questions about how a dog will fit into their home, family and schedule.

Lucky Dog Adoption counselors who are active shelter volunteers know the stellar qualities, as well as the quirks, of the many wonderful dogs in our facility. That’s how we can help make matches that last a lifetime. Shelter dogs have had enough upheaval in their lives, and so we want to be sure – for your sake and theirs – that the relationship is a great one that will last.

Step 1: You contact the Lucky Dog team at luckydogrescuematch@gmail.com. You fill out an initial application which gives us an idea of your household, your schedule and lifestyle. This initial approval process is the same for all adopters. But from here on, once you’re approved, you get one-on-one “concierge” service – and best of all, for now we can offer this matchmaking assistance for free. (Regular adoption fees apply.)
Step 2: Your Lucky Dog counselor will contact you and begin a conversation, via phone, email or in person, to learn about your hopes and dreams for your ideal canine companion.
Step 3: If you are renting, your counselor will contact your landlord to make sure it’s OK for you to have a dog and find out if there are any restrictions -- for instance, size.
Step 4: The fun begins! We send you pet pictures and bios, and you let us know when you are ready to meet them. When you find pets that interest you we make an appointment for you to come to the shelter so that we can introduce you to your prospective new furry family members. Based on what you’ve told us, we can also show you other dogs that might be a great fit. When you find your Lucky Dog, we will guide you through the adoption process (if you have other dogs, this is when they will meet). After you bring your new pet home, free advice and support will be ongoing via ChattanoogaPetHelp@gmail.com.
The best thing you can do is to have an open mind. You may begin the process thinking that you want one specific type of dog, but find that your perfect match is someone entirely different! Be assured, you are under no obligation to adopt from this shelter, or at any particular time. Lucky Dog Rescue Match wants nothing more than for you to find your best friend for life!
