Manx Animal Rescue Centres
Promote and develop the Isle of Mans, Conservation, Care and preservation for animals.
Manx Animal Rescue Centres (Manx ARC)
Established to:
Promote and develop the facilities on the Isle of Man, that allow for the education for all ages in the areas of:
Conservation,
Care and preservation,
Protection of animals and there habitats.
Secondly we hope to work closely with the pet trade to:
Develop improved screening for responsible pet owners
Provide assistance at selection,
Training for care of animals,
The reason we wish to do this is to reduce / prevent such a need for re-homing / adoption centres
How:
The Manx ARC has been established to support the following development areas:
Training courses
This area has a massive potential as there are no animal handling / care or husbandry courses available thought the colleges, yet at every college I have worked ? Been to the animal care courses have always been over subscribed. With the diversity of animals on site, we would be in prime location to provide the courses, and training sessions for the island.
Vannin Reptilia
Our initial focus with this area is to provide support for reptiles and exotics that are either unwanted or in need of re-homing for a number of reasons, the idea that we will never turn away any reptiles is key to this group. On top of this we will be looking into offering a number of courses, that would provide reptile keepers and prospective reptile keepers with information they require to make the correct selection of reptiles to reduce the numbers of reptiles needing re-homing.
Wild Animal Rescue
There is no centre on the island that is set up to support our islands wild animals, Without our wild animals the Islands habitats and environments would be totally different. This area would be a purely charity unit, self supporting and grow as required. I feel that the lack of support for our wildlife is not only shocking but totally appalling for a country that works so hard on promoting its position in the modern world.
Manx Marine Life
This would see the development of a “sea life centre” type facility on the island, focusing on what’s in our waters and the conservation of our sea life and the sustainable future of them. I would also be looking at offering training and courses for conservation and development of wildlife support for our local watery friends. I would like to provide lecture facilities on-site for school groups and training, but that we could rent out with private higher out of term time.
Karens Small Animal Shelter:
This area will provide support and shelter to all small fluffy and not yet mentioned animals. The name is in recognition of the first supporting donor not only of animals but also financial support. Not only will we re-home and rescue through this area, but we will also ensure we have some animals we can use to support schools and hopefully the hospital with friendly animals we can take to visit.
Heritage Animals
The Island is looking to become a safe area for endangered farm breeds from the UK, to ensure there continued and safe future. We could expand this to wild animals / birds, (good for publicity and raising Profile). We could support this, and also look to provide haven to a number of rare and protected species from our local neighbors...
