Poppy's Animal Shelter is committed to ensure the health, safety and quality of life for people and animals in our community, and to bring about and maintain an environment in which people and animals can live harmoniously.

A non-profit organisation and community project of the Makapanstad community with the aim of providing shelter for abandoned pets, preventing animal cruelty and neglect through humane education, and ensuring the health, safety and quality of life for animals and people in the community. Our goals are as follows:
1) Providing high standards in shelter care for the animals in our possession
2) Preventing animal neglect, cruelty and irresponsibility through public education
3) Using progressive adoptive programmes within the shelter, off-site adoption locations, media and advanced technology
4) Placing all adoptable animals in safe and loving homes
5) Eliminating euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals
6) Creating and maintaining stable resource opportunities
7) Maintaining progressive and positive relations within the community, offering public involvement and volunteer opportunities
8) Providing a unified, harmonious and safe working environment
9) Being a leader in animal welfare
