Thabazimbi Animal Rescue (T.A.R.) is a local non-profit animal welfare organisation that has been serving the community for approximately three years now. Our mission is to help and rescue any animals (domestic or wild) in need in the Thabazimbi, Regorogile, Smashblock, Swartklip, Rooiberg and Amandelbult areas, in order to rehabilitate and relocate them to new safe homes.
Currently T.A.R. operates a kennel comprising of 24 units, but these facilities are already proving to be inadequate, this is due to the influx of animals being greater than the available space. Cats and dogs, as well as wildlife, are looked after volunteers on a free-willing basis. T.A.R. was founded on 21 July 2010. T.A.R.’s main focus is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in need. T.A.R. receives and investigates at least 30 reports a week of animal abuse, we follow a very specific procedure as far as stray animals are concerned, every animal is taken to one of the vet practices where it is examined, de-wormed, vaccinated and treated for any medical conditions before it is taken to the kennels. All of this is done at T.A.R.’s expenses.
