Somos una Fundación INDEPENDIENTE y EMERGENTE que sostiene de autogestion un espacio con 200 animalitos de diversas especies, sin apoyo del estado/empresa

Acción es una organización creada con la misión de formar una comunidad de voluntarios que puedan denunciar todo tipo de maltrato animal y además emprender medidas y acciones a favor de ellos. Es decir promover el rescate de animales en situaciones de riesgo con la finalidad de crear una comunidad de hogares temporales para luego gestionar adopciones y apadrinamientos y de esta manera, cada uno de los animalitos pueda contar con una mejor suerte y además otra oportunidad de ser respetado y amados como se lo merecen.

We created Acción Animal with the mission of initiating a community of volunteers to report and fight animal abuse in all its forms, but also to take action to protect these lovely creatures. We want to promote the rescuing of animals that are in vulnerable or dangerous situations, organize a network of foster homes, advocate for adoptions and sponsorship and in this way, we want to give these animals a second chance, an opportunity to be loved and respected which is what they deserve.


Desde niños, nuestro sueño siempre fue construir un mundo sin sufrimiento para los animales. Talvez este sueño fue motivado por el paso de algunas mascotas por nuestras vidas que lo cambiaron todo. Aprendimos la alegría de un hogar con una mascota; aprendimos que los animales sienten dolor, alegría y sufren hambre o frío igual que los seres humanos. Pero no pueden hablar y su nobleza les impide agredir incluso a quien les maltrata; necesitan nuestra ayuda. La belleza de estos seres fue nuestra motivación, pero también el vivir en un país donde cientos de miles de perros callejeros caminan las calles hambrientos, heridos y solitarios en medio de la indiferencia de una mayoría. Muchos de estos perritos viven en estado de total indefensión cerca de calles y carreteras peligrosas, en donde si son atropellados por un auto,no habrá ninguna institución que los ayude. También están los cachorros, que simplemente no pueden sobrevivir en la calle, sin vacunas, calor y alimento. Existe una necesidad urgente de vacunación y esterilización.

Así, un buen día y con sólo una moto a manera de ambulancia, empezamos en el 2010 a rescatar a perritos que habían sido heridos por atropellamientos o abuso. Tuvimos que aprender a dar primeros auxilios, a desparasitar, tuvimos que crear con inmenso esfuerzo una red de apoyo de veterinarios y voluntarios para poder salvarlos.Tuvimos que hacernos fuertes para curar las heridas físicas y emocionales de estas criaturas lindas. En ese entonces, teníamos trabajos normales, como todo el mundo, pero poco a poco el rescate y cuidado de animales se convirtió en nuestra prioridad. Luego al fin! conseguimos un auto para hacer nuestros rescates y tuvimos la suerte de dar refugio a cada vez más perritos, adaptando nuestras casas arrendadas para eso. 100 perritos viven ahora con nosotros. Algunos son sólo cachorritos, otros están en sillas de ruedas, un par son sobrevivientes del peor terremoto que ha vivido Ecuador en más de un siglo, han pasado un par de águilas por aquí y está, por supuesto, Papá Pancho, un perrito de 17 años, nuestro viejito querido. Muchos de nuestros rescatados han pasado años y meses en el refugio porque no son "atractivos" para adopción, pero en nuestro refugio no existe la “eutanasia” para los perritos que no consiguen hogar. Se quedarán con nosotros hasta conseguir un hogar seguro o simplemente se quedarán siempre :)

Existen 500 mil perros callejeros en Quito muchos de los cuáles podrían vivir en un hogar con amor y seguridad si su historia se difundiera y más de nosotros hiciéramos acciones concretas y decididas para salvarlos. Vale la pena!

Ever since we can remember, it was our dream to build a world where animals wouldn't suffer. This dream was maybe motivated by the wonderful pets we had in our life, they changed everything. We were taught about the joy a pet brings to a home, we learned that animals feel pain, happiness and can be hungry and cold, just like us humans. The beauty of these beautiful beings was our main motivation, but also the fact that we live in a country where thousands of stray dogs walk the streets lonely, hurt and hungry, ignored by most people. Most of these doggies live in such a helplessness state in very dangerous streets and high speed highways, where if hurt, cannot count on the help of any institution. And then there are the puppies, many of them also in the streets too vulnerable to survive without proper vaccines. warmth and food. There is a desperate need for vaccines and sterilization.

So, one day we decided to become a sort of ambulance for these dogs. Just with a motorcycle, in 2010 we started rescuing dogs who had been run over by cars or physically abused in any way. We had to learn how to offer first aid, how to remove parasites, how to create, with so much effort! a network of veterinarians and volunteers to help us save these lovey beings. We also had to become stronger for them, in order to cure their physical and emotional wounds. Back then, we had normal jobs like everyone, but little by little rescuing and taking care of these creatures became our priority. And then, finally! we could get a car to do our emergency rescues and were lucky enough to be able to give a shelter to more and more doggies everyday, re-designing every rented house we've had for that purpose.

100 doggies live with us now. Some of them are just puppies, others are walking in wheel chairs, we have a couple of survivors of the worst earthquake Ecuador experienced in more than a century. Even a couple of eagles have stayed with us :) And of course, there is Papa Pancho, a 17 year old doggy who acts like everyone's boss (he is � our darling old man) A lot of our rescues stay for months and even years in our shelter, because for crazy reasons, they are not "attractive enough" for adoption. But we are a no-kill shelter, which means that if they cannot find a loving forever home, they will just stay with us until they need to.

There are 500.000 stray dogs in Ecuador, and many of them could find a loving and safe home if we make sure to share their story, pressure for solutions and take action to save them! It's worth it!
