Bashful is a sweet natured 8-month-old, 16 pound male chihuahua mix from Texas.
He was in a hoarder's home and is working on overcoming his fears. Hence, he’s bashful!
City life is scary for this affectionate cutie so Bashful is looking for a home with a yard in the suburbs -and another dog sibling who can show him the ropes.

Bashful is currently fostered with two dogs and he loves running in circles outside. He needs his daily zoomies in the yard and wrestling with the other dogs! Bashful is otherwise very quiet and sleeps through the night. He sometimes barks when he hears people outside the house. But once you tell him it’s ok, he's ok.
His favorite spot is to curl up next to his human. He's happy to cuddle or hang out there all day while you work till you are ready to play with him or give him his beloved belly rub.

He's super shy when he first meets new people or in new environments, but if you go slow and are patient he comes around and will become your best friend.

Bashful is housebroken. We don't know how he is around kids.

Tom (Pictures 1 & 2) is a 7-year-old, 23-pound Jack Russell Terrier mix from Texas!

Tom is the sweetest boy and the true definition of a companion. He is very smart but isn't a high energy guy. He loves to go on long walks and wants absolutely nothing more than to be by your side at ALL times. Because he loves his humans so much, he misses them a lot when they are gone and will need a patient adopter who is willing to hire a trainer that can help him build his confidence and independence. Tom is housebroken, ok with cats and other dogs and would do better in a house with older kids or adults.

Dayna (Pictures 3 & 4) is a 7-year-old, 15-pound female Terrier mix from Texas!

Dayna is the SWEETEST girl. She is a darling little couch potato who absolutely loves her people, her foster siblings and her meals! Dayna is housebroken, does well with other dogs and we are not sure about how she would do with cats. Dayna would be ok with older children who are respectful.

We know you all have about a million photos of your dogs and cats on your phone. BUT do you have a doodle? Ya, we didn’t think so!

Send us a photo of your perfect pooch or cute cat and our artist (who is also a Waggytail Volunteer) will turn it into an illustration that you can proudly display at home, the office, or the refrigerator- all for a good cause!

Here's how to participate:
Email us at Volunteer@waggytailrescue.org - subject Doodle Fundraiser
1: Photo/Name of your pet
2: Mailing Address - for where you would like your doodle sent
3: Send payment via Venmo (@WaggytailRescue), Zelle or PayPal (waggytailrescue@gmail.com) -be sure to label it as Doodle Fundraiser.
4. $50 donation - includes an 8x10 drawing that will be mailed to the donor.
5: If you donate over $75 - we will have your doodle framed (please let us know in email)
6: Include a screenshot of your donation in the email
7: Donors should expect their doodle in about a month once the fundraiser closes.
8: Submissions open Mon, Sept 13th and close Mon, Oct 4th.
9: Open to the first 50 pet lovers who submit a photo of their furever love(s)!

After over two months in foster care, Tahiti and her puppies arrived to NYC yesterday to go to foster homes for adoption! Some went straight into foster-to-adopt homes while others will be available at our upcoming adoption events. A highlight was a foster who came with her children to “pick something up” and surprised them all by letting them know it was a puppy!

We’d especially like to thank Janie, who fostered and nursed these babies for the last 8 weeks, and @alyssa_barnett_ for transporting Tahiti and all 7 babies from LI to NYC!

〰️ MEET BELLA 〰️

Bella is a 3-year-old, 24-pound female dachshund mix from Alabama.

Calling all doxie fans! Brindle babe Bella (say that 5 times fast) came all the way from Alabama in search of her forever family. Bella is 3 years old, 24 pounds and spayed. She's an absolute sweetheart who loves being around people. She'd love to be cuddled all day long if you can! We've been told she's great with other dogs, but for now she politely sniffs or ignores most dogs on the street as she learns about her new environment. 

Bella is working through some mild separation anxiety: she cries for a bit when left alone in a room or crate. Based on her behavior, we think she was a well-loved family pet who was surrendered; who can blame her for feeling insecure? We think her ideal home would be one with a canine sibling to keep her company.

She is living with a cat in her foster home, but Bella comes on a little too strong in wanting to interact and the resident cat is a bit spooked by her. They happily coexist so long as the cat is on top of furniture and Bella stays on the floor. Like most dachshunds, Bella has a prey drive and sometimes wants to chase pigeons--she is easily redirected and does not often pull on a leash. 

Miss Bella needs some guidance in order to adjust to a new home, but we cannot overstate how sweet and friendly she is! She's a wonderful lap dog who would be a great addition to a home that is willing to show her grace and patience as she adjusts to her new city life.

#TGIF Waggy fam! Ever wonder how you can help make a difference but can’t foster? Transport volunteers!

Many of our transports touchdown in NJ, even though the majority of our foster base is in NYC. Due to that, we frequently need volunteer drivers and transporters to meet us in NJ to help get the pups to their fosters over the bridge. This is a crucial part of our rescue pups journeys to their forever home, so we are always immensely grateful to the volunteers who offer their time and cars to help.
