Flirting with Fido

We strive to help both humans and animals alike live harmonious and fulfilling lives together.

Our philosophy is to protect and ensure the survival of adoptable dogs. We are dedicated to finding responsible and loving homes for misplaced, neglected and unwanted dogs. Our goal is to educate the public and pet lovers on responsible pet guardianship, which includes: spaying and neutering of pets, behavioral guidelines to ensure problem behaviors are dealt with before the pet is abandoned and to inform prospective pet guardians of the special qualities, characteristics and requirements of a pet before they acquire it.

Flirting with Fido is a non-profit animal rescue organization based in Victoria bc.

We were founded in December 2011 and since then, we've rescued dogs that have been abandoned, abused, and neglected. We work with other animal shelters as they call upon us to rescue dogs that do not stand a chance of survival in the shelter, providing medical care, including spay/neuter, and placing the dogs in suitable, safe, and permanent homes.

By working with a group of committed volunteers, foster homes and our wonderful veterinarian Dr. Brar of Lifeline animal clinic, we help to facilitate the placement of animals while providing them with loving, temporary care, and to find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.

We rely completely on the generosity of the local community to provide donations, both financial and in-kind, and volunteers. We do not receive any government funding at this time.

Dogs that we rescue are housed in volunteer foster homes until an appropriate forever home has been found.

We are committed to every animal that we rescue. We do not euthanize animals because they have been with us too long or for medical reasons. If, for any reason, an adopter is no longer able to keep their adopted animal, we are committed to bringing it back into our adoption program.
