To alleviate the suffering of animals, educate the community on compassionate animal ownership and treatment, to rehabilitate and find homes for stray, abused or abandoned animals from the island of Patmos, and to raise funds to assist in completing our shelter and helping the animals that need our help.

While Mondo Cane, as an organization, is a fairly new entity, the experience of rescuing animals by those of us who created it goes back several decades. The multicultural and multinational representation in our organization has combined our diverse talents and areas of expertise with our genuine love for animals, and deep-rooted passion for animal welfare, to create a model for an animal rescue organization that is efficient, effective, humane and practical.

Currently on the beautiful and exotic island of Patmos, in the Dodecanese of Greece, but not limited to this area, we and members of our organization have a long history both locally and internationally, helping animals of all kinds, and providing solutions that are beneficial both to animals and the society in which they live, for a humane and harmonious coexistence between people and animals.

The objectives of Mondo Cane are:

to create a sanctuary for temporary or if necessary, permanent residence of animals that have been abused or abandoned,

to assist animals to find their forever homes, with the cooperation and support of international and national organizations,

to provide a spay and neuter clinic for strays and low cost sterilization for privately owned pets,

to educate the community on pet related issues and the humane treatment of animals and

to serve as a community information and education center for all companion animal related needs.

Mondo Cane is a non-profit organization and any and all funds and earnings acquired from donations, memberships, services, events or products are exclusively and 100% to cover operational costs, and provide for the needs and futures of the animals we serve .
