BEAR is a 501 c 3 rescue organization that is dedicated to rescuing homeless, unwanted ,and abandon Akitas who's time has come to a end in a animal control facility or kill shelter regardless of the akitas age . Our ultimate goal primary is to find loving , experienced and responsible homes for the akitas in our care . We also help to promote responsible akita ownership as well as educating the public about the joys of being owned & loved by an Akita.

Big East Akita Rescue, Inc. (BEAR) is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to giving a second chance to Akitas in the North East who have been abandoned, turned into animal shelters, or are no longer wanted by their families.

We are dedicated to saving the Akita, a breed of dog endowed with loyalty, devotion, intelligence and honor.

We look for permanent loving homes for our dogs.

We will work with families to help keep their Akita in their home, providing resources and one on one support.

We are committed to helping as many dogs as we financially can.

We will work to educate potential owners and the public about the Akita breed with a goal of reducing the number of abandoned, abused, neglected, or unwanted Akitas.
