GRSRS&EC is a volunteer-run organization. All activities will be defined, developed and launched by volunteers. All activities will be funded by fundraisers conducted by the volunteers of the Sanctuary and Center and Grants..

The mission statement for the Golden Retriever Senior Rescue Sanctuary and Educational Center, Inc. is:

To provide life long care for Senior/Special Needs/Hospice Rescue Golden Retrievers transferred to the Sanctuary from nationwide 501(c) 3 Golden Retriever Rescue Programs, in a communal, home like setting where their emotional, social and medical needs are met. Those with emotional or physical challenges that make adoption inappropriate or unlikely or that need Hospice Care will receive additional positive life experience opportunities.

To provide Supported Adoption Service when a special home is found that meets the unique needs of an appropriate Senior Rescue Golden Retriever resident of the Sanctuary.

To provide training opportunities for dogs of all breeds and their caregivers in such specialty areas as Therapy Dog Certification, Dog/Children reading programs and other supportive and innovative dog/human programs.

To provide Animal Welfare Education Programs for the public of all ages at the Sanctuary and in the Community.

To help guide 501(c) 3 rescue programs throughout the country in joining together to develop regional Sanctuary and Educational Centers to serve their regions.

To provide individualized social, emotional and medical care for all Sanctuary residents in an atmosphere of peace, comfort and joy.


The Sanctuary and Center will provide care goods and services to those individuals who adopt a Senior Rescue Golden Retriever from the Sanctuary. Individuals who wish to adopt must complete an application, undergo an interview and receive a home visit with a trained adoption counselor. From this information the Sanctuary staff will determine if the applicant meets the requirements needed to become an adoptive home for a Senior Rescue Golden Retriever.
