Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.

It’s an ambitious vision. However, we truly believe it can be achieved because of our passion, our professional approach and simply because cats are among the UK’s most popular companion pets.

Cats Protection has simple and clear objectives to help cats:

Homing
Finding good homes for cats in need

Neutering
Supporting and encouraging the neutering of cats

Information
Improving people’s understanding of cats and their care

Prior to adoption; a representative of Cats Protection will call out to your home, at a time that is convenient for you, to complete a simple, short questionnaire. You will be able to ask any questions regarding cat care at this time. After the home visit has been completed and approved; you will be free to call in to the centre at any stage to adopt your perfect feline companion. Home visits can be arranged at the adoption centre reception, over the telephone or via email.

An adoption fee of £60 per cat is charged. This fee goes somewhat towards the care the cat has already received while at the adoption centre. On average the Belfast Adoption Centre spends approximately £150 - £200 on each cat in its care. Cats Protection does not receive funding from any government or lottery bodies and therefore relies on donations from the kind public and adopters to allow us to continue the vital work that we do.

All adopted cats will have received the following treatments:

- A thorough veterinary examination
- Have received at least their 1st vaccination
- Treated for worms and fleas
- Neutered (if old enough)
- Microchipped

Adopters will also receive 4 weeks free insurance from Petplan upon adoption.
