Founded in 1929, Brandywine Valley SPCA, formerly Chester County SPCA, actively promotes the welfare and humane treatment of all animals, serving as Pennsylvania's first open, no-kill shelter. In 2015, Brandywine Valley SPCA expanded its reach beyond Pennsylvania into the state of Delaware, creating a satellite campus in New Castle and subsequently a PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center in Dover. In 2017, the BVSPCA took ownership of the Georgetown Campus to expand services within lower Delaware. For more than 80 years, our organization has lead the charge in the care, nourishment, protection and rehabilitation of numerous cats and dogs in the Chester and Delaware county area. We are proud to continue to serve as an advocate on behalf of all animals in both Pennsylvania and Delaware.

❗️NEWS❗️ 23 dogs rescued from hoarding just arrived at our West Chester Campus. Saved by a PA shelter who asked for our help, we’ll medically evaluate each dog and groom those in poor condition. A few might be ready for adoption tomorrow, more in the coming days, and some are going to fosters. We’re accepting this large intake on top of our daily local work as one of the region’s only open access shelter; that means we take lost/stray animals from our service areas regardless of medical and behavior needs. Her tail degloved down to the bone while on the streets as a stray, this kitten had to have an emergency tail amputation then close monitoring based on the festering infection at the root of her tail. Buddy met the girl of his dreams on Saturday right after arriving from our work in Louisiana. He's four, she's six. Together, they'll navigate primary, middle, and high school. How a blind dog like Hwy ended up stray is a mystery. We do know he is the cutest, sweetest little thing you can meet! This petite little nugget uses his other senses to be quite capable, even leading our volunteers on walks and doing well in his first dog meet.
