Animal Welfare League Qld (AWLQ) is a charity founded on the Gold Coast in 1959 with the core mission of rehoming abandoned and surrendered companion animals.

AWLQ operates four rehoming centres in South East Queensland, caring for up to 17,500 animals each year. AWLQ also works in close partnership with city and rural council pounds to re-home animals in those areas. AWLQ works with state government, rescue groups, local councils and the community to improve the outcomes for abandoned pets and are nationally recognised for our unique and innovative programs, initiatives and rehoming strategies.

AWLQ has a zero euthanasia policy on all healthy, treatable and sociable animals, giving them a second chance at life.
