SPCA Newcastle

Newcastle Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

Our mission is in our name, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. We protect ALL animals. The Newcastle SPCA is a member of the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA).

The Newcastle SPCA believes in the five freedoms:
1. Freedom from thirst, hunger and malnutrition
2. Freedom from discomfort
3. Freedom from pain, injury or disease
4. Freedom to express normal behaviour
5. Freedom from fear and distress
But the most important of all is the freedom to be free!

Our Society covers an area of approximately 150km radius around Newcastle and looks after the interests of all animals, domestic, farm, wildlife, animals used for entertainment, sport and exhibitions.
We don’t turn any animal brought to the SPCA away. We are here for them, day and night. We are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to rescues and emergencies involving animals. We have a staff compliment of 1 Inspector, 4 kennel hands and I full time volunteer.
We are a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 002-317) and do not receive Government or municipal funding. We rely on the support of the community we serve for operating costs. Compassion costs nothing, but pet food, veterinary costs, vehicles for transporting rescued animals, etc does.
If you would like to support the Newcastle SPCA, no matter how small, please make a donation now.
