4 the LOVE of German Shepherds Rescue

"By the love of those I've been privileged to rescue, I have been rescued" A. K. Tucker. I am a small private GSD Rescue that depends on donations.

To SAVE and re-home as many homeless and in need German Shepherds as we can to loving and forever homes. 4 the Love of German Shepherds Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, re-homing and rehabilitating unwanted German Shepherds that have been mistreated, neglected, abused and/or abandoned, surrendered by their families, dumped at shelters, in need of medical treatment, lost or found as strays and or homeless through no fault of their own. German Shepherds are loyal and loving, yet can be very expensive and sometimes overwhelming due to their size, temperament, intelligence and need for constant human attention.

Many families do not do proper research when purchasing or adopting a German Shepherd, and the result is an alarming number of dogs in need of assistance, and Rescue many are turned into high kill shelters, dumped in the streets, left in foreclosed homes without food and water or turned out into the desert here in Arizona to fend for themselves against the harsh elements.

"Our purpose is to provide temporary shelter her at our facility and home as well as using our loving foster homes and families that open their hearts and homes to the dogs in need until we can find forever placement for them. We provide quality food, medical attention and behavioral training while they are in our care in order to properly evaluate and attend to each dog's special needs. Our ultimate goal is to place each foster dog in a forever home with a family who has demonstrated their ability to provide the necessary love, attention and care that every German Shepherd dog deserves. We strive to educate owners and potential owners about each unique German shepherd dogs lifestyle, temperament, nutrition, health and behavioral needs in order to support the breeds and find the perfect match for each rescue dog in our program.”

All dogs are thoroughly evaluated medically and behaviorally while in our Rescue's care. Dogs are microchipped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo, and bordetella, and treated for any pre-existing medical conditions that they may come in with. All of the foster families also work with dogs on basic obedience as well as any advanced behavioral issues they may suffer from.

“The goal is to rehabilitate dogs so that they will ultimately be successful when they are adopted, and our success rate is extremely high,” we will keep foster dogs within the program for as long as it takes to work with them and find them the perfect forever home once they are ready to be placed.”

We thank you for all your support and we look forward to saving as many German Shepherds as we can.

My name is Suzie Ashton, I am the Founder and Rescuer of 4 the LOVE of German Shepherds Rescue. It has always been a dream of mine and life long passion to open a Rescue and help animals in need. I have been doing animal Rescue for the better part of my life since I was a child as I grew up in a household where animals were always welcome, loved and respected. My parents both loved them and taught me to have the same values, passions and compassion to help homeless and in need animals. I want to give back to our Society and help with getting them to wonderful homes rather then the alternative of Euthanizing them to overcrowded shelters and local and State Programs. I work worth many local Agencies like the Humane Society and our local High Kill Shelters to help reduce the intake of dogs and then having to euthanize them due to either health issues, owner surrender or the shelter being out of space and needing the room they put a perfectly healthy adoptable dog down for this reason alone.

As an adult I volunteered for many other Rescues and about 9 years + I finally was able to open my own Rescue after working so hard to gain funding and many personal sacrifices. I have over 35 years experience with the German Shepherd Breed from having my own, to training, rescuing and rehabilitating them. Rescue is hard, time consuming, expensive and often times thankless work, but it's also very rewarding, honorable and saves lives of those animals in desperate need. I run my own small private GSD Rescue here in Arizona. I have 2 acres of fenced off yard area, a dog park, dog runs, kennels, a converted 2 car garage which also has air-conditioned kennels, dog beds, crates, supplies and doubles as the meet and greet area for all our potential adopters. We have an Isolation room also that is dedicated as a dog room with heating, air-conditioning as well as music for their entertainment. We have a 20 thousand gallon pool for the dogs to play and get trained in, rehabilitated in due to injury. Our Rescued GSD's live with our family until they get a family of their very own. I try to give this amazing breed a second chance at life when their families cannot keep them any longer for whatever reason or they have been abused, neglected, strays, lost, left at high kill shelters or breeder turnouts. We don't ONLY rescue these dogs but we also REHABILITATE and TRAIN them. We believe a well rounded, GSD is a good GSD and will have a a successful relationship with their new adopter and family. The quicker they become a part of the pack/family the better off they are. A little about me, I have grown up with German Shepherds from the time I was 8 years old to today. I have been around them all my life working in training them, rescuing them and of course loving them. They are truly the BEST breed in the world to me. I have a LOVE for our breed like no other. I love all dogs but GSD's are just a breed of their own as most of you know that have them.

I am a Flight Attendant that travels all over the US and the World for a Major Legacy Airline Carrier, I love my job and the income allows me to run my Rescue which is my PASSION. I am a trainer in Basic handling and obedience. I work with the dogs that need extra and special attention with behavior modification. We are a part of the Scottsdale Schutzhund Club and all our dogs are active participants in the program working on their various obedience titles from BH to SchH3. I am also a Licensed Animal psychologist, PhD. We love our Rescue work and our training work in helping all GSD's to become the BEST they can be! We believe after the rescue you have to follow up with the training, socialization and then positive placement into the right environment. We do not take in a large amount of dogs here. We prefer to work with a smaller number this way we can have one on one time with these dogs and work with their given issues. I am a small Rescue that depends on the donation of supporters. I am sustained through the kindness of friends, co-workers, strangers, animal lovers and myself through donations. We do all the work myself. We Foster them, give them all medical care required, giving them basic training (doggie manners) and then try to place them with their "4 ever family". :) (We do have a small Foster program and are always looking for qualified foster homes and families to help us save more dogs.)

"I hope to make people realize how totally helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child, that we will be kind and take care of their needs (They) are an obligation put on us, a responsibility, we have no right to neglect, nor to violate by cruelty." James Harriot

Never believe that animals suffer less than humans. Pain is the same for them that it is for us. Even worse, because they cannot help themselves.

"Of all the creatures, man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. The fact the man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creature that cannot."
