Noah's Ark Animal Welfare Association is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and is Las Animas County's ONLY animal shelter.
To work collaboratively increasing the life-saving capacity of dogs & cats within our region
while maintaining a safe and comfortable home for every dog and cat in Las Animas County.
Noah's Ark is run by a Board of Directors, Executive Director, Animal Care Supervisor, Kennel Attendants and a very devoted volunteer cadre. We are always looking for volunteers who are interested in a wide variety of activities from our adoption events, thrift store workers, data entry, social media venues, kennel cleaning, dog walking, playing with cats, construction, drivers, groomers, etc. Please contact us if you are interested and have a talent you think we might be able to use!

If your pet recently went missing and you would like to see if your pet is in our shelter today, our animal care team will be at our shelter until 1:00 today for pet reunions and urgent found pets only. If you find a pet after hours and the pet needs to come into shelter, please contact the Trinidad Police Department, as officers can access our campus.

This is Tracy. When Tracy first arrived we thought he was a she and called her Barn Buddy Tracy, but we have since discovered Tracy is in fact a he and doesn't like the title so now he is just called Tracy or a boy named Tracy. Tracy is quite affectionate and enjoys telling you about his day and hopes you will enjoy listening about his day too.

🧡 Brown van #appreciation post! It was donated to us 20 years ago by the former Hadad’s Furnishings Store in #TrinidadColorado and it’s still going!
It had a lot of miles on it back then… and somehow it manages to keep adding more through all our adventures. Through the years, it’s been there for us to transport shelter pets to other shelters in Colorado, haul recyclables to and fro, pick up furniture donations for our thrift store, captured on #googlemaps, decorated with pet tags & discarded coins, and has been in numerous parades including #artocade!
It’s been stuck in the snow, broken into, overheated, without a tire, broken down, out of gas… but somehow it just keeps on hanging in there. The good folks at JM Tire have helped us keep this classic big brown machine running through all its trials and tribulations—thank you Joe & Angie!
This wise ol’ van has somehow treaded its way into a special place in our hearts. No, no… this isn’t a “goodbye van” post — we just want to give a great big THANK YOU BROWN VAN for all your dedication and service!
You’re old, quirky, temperamental, and stubborn… and yes…. it would be wonderful to have a newer van…. but we love you! So here’s to you 🥂 brown van! We look forward to more memories and adventures with you… provided you will still have us!

Meet Meatloaf! Boy, is he one handsome guy, weighing in at around 30lbs on some very short little legs, this low rider has it all. Meatloaf tries to play it cool. He pretends that he is to adult to play with his dog buddies but secretly plays with them when he thinks no one is watching. Meatloaf is a gentle, loving, & easy going boy who loves everyone he meets.

Hades is just a happy happy guy, just a happy happy big boy. Hades is such a pawsitive dog, loves people, other dogs, and showing you what a great singer he is. Seriously you'd think he was a husky until you see that adorably squishy Akita face. A perfect day for Hades includes nice walks, playtime - especially finding his toys to show you, and cuddling on the couch with you after a long day. He is house trained, crate trained, and knows how to sit. Hades is a 2 year old handsome Akita who is sure to win your heart!
