The Mission Statement for the Animal Welfare Coalition of Northeastern New Mexico is:
Guided by the the humane ethic and in recognition of the bond between humans and animals, the Animal Welfare Coalition of Northeastern New Mexico exists to promote humane principles, compassionate care and prevention of cruelty to animals.

The AWC address's the cruelty and neglect of cats and dogs in and around Las Vegas, New Mexico. We gained our community's trust by helping with pet food, providing low-cost spay and neuter services, and rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding forever homes for the sick, the injured, and the forgotten. As a result, the City of Las Vegas invited us to take over operation of the animal shelter. While we provide the services we have built our reputation on, we also offer pet guardians the resources for humanely maintaining a companion animal in one home for its lifetime.
