Happy Adoption Day!! Our handsome puppy Zeus found his forever home with the most amazing family!!!
Our handsome puppy Zeus is officially ready for adoption!!! He a big puppy but such a sweet boy. He enjoys cuddles on the couch with his foster mom and playing with his toys. He does good on a leash and loves to go for nightly walks. He’s other dog and cat friendly. He needs a family who understand an XXL breed puppy. He can be clumsy at times but definitely has a heart of gold and is such a love. He’s potty trained with a doggy door and would need a little adjusting in a new home especially if it doesn’t have a doggy door. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Zeus please go to our website and fill out an application.
CHANGE OF DIRECTORS
In 2019, Aaron (pictured with his dog Evie- a rescue from Kings SPCA) joined the Board-of-Directors as a Member-At-Large. Within a few months, Kings SPCA asked Aaron to accept the position as President and Executive Director of Kings SPCA. In September 2019, he accepted this role and has has a profound and ever lasting influence on the operation of our rescue and shelter. Throughout the past few years, he has overhauled the way Kings SPCA operates. Bringing Kings SPCA into secure financial standing, Aaron revised all aspects of the operation ensuring a safer place for residences and a desirable workplace for staff and volunteers. His hard work and dedication has brought a renewed since of community to the shelter and mended vital relationships with other agencies. Even through moving to Chicago for his primary employment, Aaron continued to have daily involvement in the operations here at Kings SPCA. With the conclusion of his two-year elected term having been reached, and the distance of his move, he felt it best to put in his notice of resignation to allow someone with “boots on the ground” at the shelter to take over.
Effective January 1st, Danielle will assume the role as Acting President. Danielle has been an extremely active volunteer of Kings SPCA for years. Currently she serves as Vice President of the Board and has been a board member for even longer. Danielle’s one true calling in life is everything rescue and she has knowledge of this industry well above most. As Aaron has mentioned more times than he can count, without Danielle’s input and guidance, he would not have been effective.
Aaron will continue to make himself available to the Board before, during, and after transition to ensure the smooth operation that is Kings SPCA continues. We are sad to see Aaron go, and welcome Danielle to the position. With this resignation, we are actively looking for board members. If interested, please complete a volunteer application on our website (kingsspca.org). Board members must be active volunteers with the shelter, in good standing. The Board is comprised of five members, and are all volunteer positions.
Check out Ace!!! He’s doing amazing in his foster home and will be available for adoption very soon.
November is adopt a senior pet month. I saw this poem and thought it was beautiful. 🐶❤️🐾❤️
The pictures are of our bonded pair of seniors Grey and Sky who are looking for their person to spend the rest of their life with. If you are interested in adopting them please go to our website kingsspca.org and fill out an application
One by one, they pass my cage,
Too old, too worn, too broken, no way.
Way past his time, he can't run and play.
They shake their heads slowly and go on their way.
A little old man, arthritic and sore,
It seems I am not wanted anymore
I once had a home, I once had a bed,
A place that was warm, and where I was fed.
Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail.
Who wants a dog so old and so frail?
My family decided I didn't belong,
I got in their way, my attitude was wrong.
Whatever excuse they made in their head,
Can't justify how they left me for dead.
Now I sit in this cage, where day after day,
Those younger dogs get adopted away.
When I had almost come to the end of my rope,
You saw my face, and I finally had hope.
You saw thru the grey, and the legs bent with age,
And felt I still had life beyond the cage
You took me home, gave me food and a bed.
And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.
We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low,
You love me so dearly, you want me to know.
I may have lived most of my life with another,
But you outshine them with a love so much stronger.
And I promise to return all the love I can give,
To You, my dear person, as long as I live.
I may be with you for a week or for years,
We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears.
And when the time comes that God deems I must leave,
I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve.
And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new,
My thoughts and my heart will still be with you.
And I will brag to all who will hear,
Of the angel who made my last days so dear.
*note we are a no kill rescue so they are not in any danger, but they definitely deserve a forever home!!!
Please share so we can keep all of our furry friends happy, healthy, and safe!
Sorry for the late post but we wanted to let everyone know
Surgery went well and Ace is home and resting. Unfortunately the leg was rotting and had to be completely removed in order to ensure that he wouldn’t have any problems healing.
He’s such a sweet boy and we are sure will make a complete recovery

They are a bonded pair and their adoption fee is $50. These sweet seniors are easy and come potty trained so why not adopt them?
