Sweetie was abandoned at our Western Agency Pet Resource Center in Kayenta on the Navajo Nation. She was unable to walk and barely able to stand. Our staff there immediately started supportive care to try to save her life. Then, our intake team drove down to Kayenta, picked Sweetie up, and brought her back to our Rescue Ranch in Park City. ⠀

When Sweetie arrived at the Rescue Ranch, she was diagnosed with a tick-borne disease called ehrlichiosis. The infection had progressed to the point that Sweetie was so weak that she could not move. Sweetie had to be hand-fed and turned over every few hours to prevent sores. ⠀
⠀
Our staff cared for her around the clock until we were able to find an emergency foster home who took her over Thanksgiving weekend. After 3 days, Sweetie was able to stand on her own and then started walking the next day! She is feeling even better now and is starting to play and explore, and she continues to improve and grow stronger each day!⠀

Mochi is an elderly cat who came to us with all four feet declawed and a case of uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. She was at Nuzzles for over a year so we could watch her thyroid condition and ensure she was gaining weight and recovering. During her year at Nuzzles, she gained 3 pounds to reach a healthy weight of 8.75 lbs -- roughly the equivalent of a human needing to gain 60-75 lbs! ⠀

One day, a nice family came in looking for a senior cat to adopt, and Mochi stole their hearts! She is now super spoiled and living in a cozy home with lots of attention and love.⠀

Mochi got a second chance at a happy and healthy life thanks to people like you. We just have to say another big thank you to everyone participating in #GivingTuesday today – you make the world a better place!⠀

Poor little Renagade came in with multiple open fractures and missing skin on his toes. The previous shelter assumed he was feral or unsocialized, because he was in so much pain he hid from humans in the shelter. Once arriving at the Ranch, he was immediately taken to surgery, where his wounds were cleaned and closed and several toes were amputated. He was also prescribed pain medication to keep him comfortasble while he healed. After he woke up from anesthesia, he was taken home by a vet tech to rest, recover, and be loved on. He loved playing with her cats and rescue dog and it was clear that he also loved being around people who gave him the love and time he needed to feel safe. Before long, he was all healed up and ready to find his forever home, and he was soon adopted! ⠀

Although Renegade is missing a few of his #ToeBeans, he has a wonderful life and a loving family. You made that happen for this sweet kitty, and we can't thank you enough! ⠀

Trinity was rescued from the Navajo Nation when she was abandoned at our Center in Kayenta, and although she was very emaciated, she was also hugely pregnant. Trinity was very scared when we first met her but would give us shy kisses and tail wags when we approached her, so we knew we could help this sweet mom dog and earn her trust. We brought Trinity back to our Rescue Ranch, where a loving foster mom was waiting to pick her up. The very next day, Trinity gave birth to five healthy puppies. She is the most doting mother and is constantly checking in on her babies to make sure they are happy and healthy. Soon, Trinity and all of her pups will be ready to find loving forever homes.

At Nuzzles & Co. every penny we raise goes toward our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and find forever homes for animals. Today we want to share Shelbie's story. ⠀

Shelbie was rescued on one of our reservation rescue trips. She was found to have a tumor and was clearly uncomfortable and in need of medical attention. Once she arrived at our Rescue Ranch, a diagnostic test confirmed that she had TVT, a contagious tumor. Shelbie was an incredibly sweet dog and loved to be doted on by our ranch staff, and needless to say, she quickly became a staff favorite! It was hard not to fall in love with her always-wagging tail and happy personality! After four doses of intravenous chemotherapy, Shelbie’s tumor regressed completely.⠀

When Shelbie was finally ready to go to a foster home, we discovered that she was terrified of being left alone. Although she was friendly and sweet, her separation anxiety made it clear that she would need a very committed and patient adopter who could help build her confidence and work through her fears. Our training team worked with Shelbie and gave her all of the tools to succeed, and our adoption team searched for the perfect family. Before too long, a couple came to meet sweet Shelbie and loved her as much as our entire staff did. They also had another dog whose companionship could help Shelbie feel less lonely and afraid. It was meant to be! Shelbie was adopted and is loving life in her forever home!⠀

Jolie and her three siblings were brought to our facility in the Navajo Nation. They were found living around an abandoned house and had learned to survive by scavenging for food and hiding from humans. Although they were nervous and afraid, we saw the glimmer of hope in their eyes and knew that with a bit of love and time (and lots of yummy food to fill up their hungry tummies), we could change their lives for the better by finding them loving homes. ⠀

When Jolie's adopter saw her and read her bio on our website, she knew she was “the one”. They made the trek to our Rescue Ranch and sat on the floor with her to make her feel comfortable. They could see that if given the chance, Jolie would be perfect for her family. About a month after she was adopted, a video was posted of Jolie sitting in her new dad’s lap, and it went viral! ⠀

For #SeniorSunday this week, we want to highlight Jessie! She's been around for a whole decade and she's been with Nuzzles since May 2019. Jessie is an excellent lobby kitty, who clocks in every day to work with our Rescue Ranch team. She loves to prance across the computer keyboard and perch in the printer paper stacks. If you ever have a typo, Jessie might be to blame! So she definitely keeps us all on our toes with proofreading. Jessie also helps our behavior team with dog assessments too! Because she's such a hard-working gal. @markmillersubaru waived her adoption fee 💕 ⠀
