Virginia Beach SPCA Teens

This page focuses on teens, especially our Junior Volunteers (ages 13-17), who are interested in and/or volunteer with the Virginia Beach SPCA.

Welcome to all teens (and teen families) interested in the Virginia Beach SPCA (VBSPCA)!
Teens ages 13-17 may participate with our VBSPCA Junior Volunteer program--interested teens must complete an application for admission, and, when admitted, must attend an orientation session with a parent.
Junior Volunteers (JVs) are volunteers who work their way through a tiered, merit and time-based model to gain increased responsibility, leadership and recognition. JVs work 365 days a year and each volunteer adheres to a schedule. JVs assist staff with cleaning and other support activities. With time and experience JVs are able to help with direct animal care. JVs give homeless animals attention, socialization, enrichment, and love...all of which improves the animal's quality of life and aids in adoption. Junior Volunteers of the VBSPCA fulfill the organization’s mission “to decrease the tolerance for cruelty while increasing the community’s capacity for compassion.”
