La Junta Colorado Shelter Animals

Our goal is to assist shelter staff with getting unclaimed dogs into rescue so they are not euthanized.

This page was created to help bring awareness to the animals in the rural area of La Junta, Colorado. This Shelter is very small and has limited exposure and resources available. In fact, they have little to no funding to support any vetting needs beyond emergency life saving care, and even then, many times the costs incurred are paid by the volunteers and/or the shelter workers themselves.

We also open our page up to anyone wanting to post any pet related information, lost pets, found pets, we will do our best to assist in reuniting pets and owners, but you should always call and speak with the shelter staff directly. We recommend calling at least once, preferably twice (morning/evening) to check if your lost pet has been found.

The biggest plea is for local Rescue groups to step in and take the Animals into their rescues since the shelter is not Authorized to do Adoptions.

There are rescues in the area that will assist you with an adoption of a dog from the La Junta shelter, but all details are specific to the rescue. (procedure, cost, time frame, etc, if you message this page someone will be happy to recommend a rescue that will assist you in adopting.)

If you are in the area PLEASE consider volunteering!!
