Roice-Hurst Humane Society

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." ~ Mahatma Gandhi" Rescued" is our Favorite Breed!

Our Mission:

To provide safety, shelter and care for homeless dogs and cats and place them in loving and "forever" homes. We work to educate our community about the importance of responsible pet ownership.

Our Vision Statement:

We envision a unified Western Slope society that values the life of every companion animal; where no healthy, treatable, and adoptable dog or cat is euthanized; and where every pet find a safe, loving and permanent home.

In today's economy, more and more people are turning to us to take pets they can no longer afford. Often, pets are simply left, abandoned and frightened at our gate. When our kennels are full, we try to find foster homes, rescue groups or other shelters that can take our overflow. We work closely with area animal control agencies and when we have available space, we take their animals that have overstayed their limit and are facing imminent euthanization.

We have a vision.... a vision of finding a "forever home" for all pets in need of homes. A vision that encompasses a place where animals are not killed for lack of space or resources. A place where the community can come together to enjoy the animals and be involved in their care and placement. Where training and education on animal issues can be provided to both children and adults. Where volunteers are trained, appreciated, and contributing in a meaningful manner. A community that not only supports their homeless animals with monetary donations, but with donations of their time and their heart.

We are working tirelessly to enlarge and upgrade our shelter so that we can save more lives. We need your help! Please become a member or donate what you can.
